i was never especially impressed by that coaster, anywayapollo's chariot, though...awesomegonuts
7/24/2009 12:31:05 PM
^I agree, but Fabio does not.
7/24/2009 12:34:07 PM
i haven't been to busch gardens in quite a while...i love that place
7/24/2009 12:34:43 PM
while it's not the best roller coaster, i always rode it when i went to Busch Gardens. it's too bad it's reached the end of its life, but on to bigger and better things.
7/24/2009 12:37:44 PM
Showing my age. I remember when they opened that thing and the ad blitz that went along with it.
7/24/2009 12:39:30 PM
Are they gonna build a new one called Kelly's in its place?
7/24/2009 12:40:49 PM
i liked BBW, i think it was unique
7/24/2009 1:06:21 PM
I still have a BBW mesh cap circa 1984 somewhere around here.
7/24/2009 1:13:28 PM
needs to be relocated to the court of the carolinas
7/24/2009 1:39:44 PM
i think you can still get some BBW on craigslist.
7/24/2009 1:45:31 PM
^lol
7/24/2009 1:48:27 PM
BBW sucked. It was all stop and go and jerk kids around and shit. I liked the setting of it going through the forest though.and yes, Apollo's Chariot...and Griffon ftmfw
7/24/2009 1:53:35 PM
I went when I was younger and rode that ride like 10 times. so that's kinda sad that it's closing
7/24/2009 2:11:58 PM
we must have ridden the Griffon about 12 times in a row last summer...still can't get their little station house announcement out of my head..."...the might Griffon!!!" by far the best, but we will def still be hitting up BBW on our trip this summer
7/24/2009 2:59:36 PM
At least they still got the Loch Ness Monster!
7/24/2009 3:16:08 PM
apparently people were afraid
7/24/2009 3:25:10 PM
^^haha yeah i liked their 'justification' for keeping the Loch Ness
7/24/2009 3:28:46 PM

7/24/2009 4:02:43 PM
I'm going to cedar point tomorrow
7/24/2009 4:03:55 PM
Is Big Bad Wolf really the farthest ride to the left there? I swear there was a whole different hamlet to the left of that (not including Drachen Fire)...
7/24/2009 4:27:30 PM
7/24/2009 4:40:19 PM
i think im the only person that feels the Griffon was a disappointment
7/24/2009 4:57:21 PM
^ Nope, not the only one.
7/24/2009 6:12:09 PM
7/24/2009 6:14:23 PM
i went two weeks ago and rode big bad wolf once in two days.no reason to leave apollo's chariot or griffin.
7/24/2009 8:19:57 PM
i liked big bad wolf but it was probably time. shit opened forever ago. tear it down and build something that makes it worth going to bg again.
7/24/2009 8:45:06 PM
I heard they are going to build a wizard coaster....
7/24/2009 9:02:07 PM
RIP BBW. I thought the best part was whizzing thru the make believe town.
7/24/2009 10:10:44 PM

7/24/2009 10:13:59 PM
I really like BBW, but I do think alpengeist was my favorite.I got stuck on Loch Ness Monster for 15 minutes once. It was near dusk and the ride stopped moving, at least we were on a straight away and not upside down or something.
7/24/2009 10:23:24 PM
Wow thats terrible. I've always liked the Big Bad Wolf. The swinging coasters are no longer the popular ones. But I hope they don't replace with a ride that is as lame as the Griffon.....
7/24/2009 11:00:19 PM
Alpengeist is, without any doubt, my favorite at BG and perhaps anywhere
7/24/2009 11:03:15 PM
dude that ride ruled, it was like one of the first suspended coasters ever
7/24/2009 11:07:03 PM
that's sad. it was my first roller coaster
7/25/2009 12:23:12 AM
my favorite memory of busch gardens was from like 6th or 7th grade. my best friend's parents took us for his birthday. it was september. we went on a wednesday or thursday or something. the park was dead. we must have ridden each coaster 10-15 times. we seriously didn't have to get off the front row of alpengeist for four cycles.god i wanna go back now
7/25/2009 9:44:44 AM
my favorite memory of bbw was when we waited for over an hour in line, got up to the front about to board and they close it for thunderstorms and i agree, drachen fire was horrible. i came out of there with a massive headache. it wasn't there last time i went. not sure when it was actually taken out, but thank god.
7/25/2009 10:18:51 AM
drachen fire had one corkscrew section that would bang your head around, everything else about that ride destroyed bbw. I'm glad I got to ride it before they took it out.
7/25/2009 10:58:32 AM
My first coaster too...

Just gonna copy and paste what I posted on another forum...I will reserve final judgment until I see what they are replacing it with, but ultimately I highly doubt I will ever be anything but angry about this. I've been hearing this for months now and just hoping that it wasn't true. Big Bad Wolf is one of the most unique rides in the world. It has so much character with its setting in the woods, the run through the little Bavarian village, and of course the big swoop down over the lake. It's hard to imagine going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg and it not being there.I think the only way I could stomach this would be if they were replacing it with a woodie, but I think it's probably safe to say they will never build one of those there. Too many noise complaints from locals and Busch is concerned about the maintenance. The writing is all over the wall for a B&M flying coaster, so I have my doubts that they will be able to replicate the character of Big Bad Wolf. B&M isn't exactly known for extensive use of terrain or straying very far from their cookie cutter designs. This removal does open up a massive chunk of land where Wolf and Drachen Fire used to be, so I'm sure there will be a new land going in. This is a very unfortunate example of progress at the expense of history, however. I will definitely be heading that way soon to get my final rides. This is NOT a very nice 25th anniversary gift. Fuck you nu-Busch. First you take away the Brewmaster's Club, and now this?

This is so sad. I remember this as being my first roller coaster ride. I was almost too scared to go on it until my brother and his friends started making fun of me. Once I did I think I rode it like 5-6 more times that day. Busch Gardens was awesome then but I haven't been in a long time.
7/26/2009 2:20:10 PM
they just cant leave the classics alone, that was a fun friggin coaster
7/26/2009 5:48:44 PM
This was my first roller coaster ride too. It made me cry. Keep in mind, I was extremely tall for my age (I hit 5' the summer before 4th grade). After making my mom ride the Teacups (a way more age-appropriate ride), she exacted her revenge by making me ride The Big Bad Wolf. And we sat in the front. Or maybe I was just a wuss.
7/28/2009 6:34:58 AM
I wish I had time to go ride it again before they take it out
7/28/2009 7:06:21 AM
so lame. i've never been a huge BBW fan but it's a shame they are removing a piece of coaster history.i've never been a fan of flying coasters and B & M rides tend to be pretty boring so I hope they go another direction. something like a 4D or S&S air launch coaster would be beyond amazing although I just don't see it happening. unfortunately, a flying coaster makes wayyy too much sense.while they are at it, they should go ahead an install a drop tower. they could theme it to the leaning tower of pisa!

hypersonic was amazing! i'd really really like to check out the ring racer in germany after it opens although I don't have the means to do so.Also i've never been on a 4D but it seems like it would have to be fun. (X was closed when I went to SFMM a few years back)either way i don't see it being anything other than a B & M Flyer
