we have 4 of our exchange accounts sending all mail to 4 separate gmail accounts so we can access them from our iphones (because our exchange setup is too gay to work any other way). 1 out of the 4 is receiving all junk mail from the exchange account in the gmail account. said junk mail is labeled as such in outlook and has already been automatically redirected to its rightful folder. the setup for these 4 accounts is no different and i can't figure out wtf is going on.HALP! bosslady isn't happy

I can't believe you would use M$ to describe Microsoft. That is very childish and uncalled for. Good luck getting help in tech talk for that.

haha

uh, I have exchange on my iPhone, setup was ungodly simple.Sounds like you need to get someone to fix your exchange installation, not continue to add more convoluted workarounds to an already retarded implementation.Junk mail in Outlook is a LOCAL folder designation (ie local filtering rules). Exchange doesn't have any clue that you've junk filtered anything in outlook. You need server-side spam filters for exchange, or you need to put up with labeling the spam in gmail for a few weeks until it gets a similar set of rules established. Only setting up server-side filtering in exchange is going to give a consistent experience though.

holy crap. i guess yall missed my other thread that our exchange is fucked up and the microsoft certified fixer guy couldnt fix it. this is our only option so we're stuck with it.back to my problem. we only have this issue for ONE OF FOUR ACCOUNTS. the others are fine, have the same junk mail settings. their junk mail stays in the outlook junk mail folder and never hits google, whereas the one gets junk mail coming from the junk mail folder to the gmail inbox.http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=570618[Edited on July 17, 2009 at 7:24 AM. Please describe the mechanism that you are using to "sending all mail to 4 separate gmail accounts". Is it forwarding in Outlook or a transport on the server. What version of Microsoft Exchange are you using?

to forward to gmail, the guy added a new contact to our users, then checked the box that says something like "send a copy to this email and exchange email". and poofour "IT" guy, who is really not an IT guy just got stuck doing it b/c he half knew network stuff, is really possessive of it for whatever reason. it's hard to convince boss to bring someone else in. i dont' know, it's complicated. i was hoping that someone else here had an idea what could be going on or help me find something b/c i can't find one single other person with this problem.it's obvious we need to fix exchange, but if/when that happens it will be a while from now. we need to have this rigged up in the mean time. that is not going to change, so please stop suggesting to fix exchange b/c that route isn't working right now and it's not helpful.um i think it's small business 2003.[Edited on July 17, 2009 at 9:43 AM. I usually get my questions answered when I berate those that I'm asking help from.I'm not sure why it's not working for you.

The mechanism they are using is called "Journaling" and the issue like stated above is that the copy is sent to gmail before the original hits Outlook. There are basically two ways a junk mail is identified and filtered: server-side and client-side. If you do not have server-side filtering (called IMF in Exchange 2003) enabled, then Outlook Junk Mail Filtering is doing all the work. The mail that's getting forwarded to gmail never goes through the step (and apparently the user's gmail spam profile sucks).Even if you do have IMF enabled in Exchange 2003, it may not be actioning the messages properly.Check out http://www.petri.co.il/block_spam_with_exchange2003_imf.htm or give it to your IT folks that manage the Exchange server. If you set the action to delete, then the mail won't make it to gmail (but legitimate mail may be lost). There are many server-side 3rd party spam filters you can look into. I used to work for http://www.gfi.com and they work well and are priced well for small businesses. You can setup their mail filtering and will have more options to react to spam than IMF alone.Granted, if your Exchange server is admittedly fucked up you might not want to be installing more software on it.

^^i'm just stressed out and sick of this whole thing. plus having people suggest the same thing over and over and saying i know it's fucked up and needs fixing but it can't be done right now doesn't get through to some people.^thank you so much. i will investigate

just use google apps. seriously. virtually no management for you and no more fucked up exchange setup. and you can fire the half ass retarded I.T. guy since google will handle everything for you for free for up to like 50 users.all you need to do is basically change the MX listings and set google apps up. takes like 5 mins..
