I love my 2006 Jeep Cherokee, so I was excited to see what the new version will look like...well, so far I'm not digging it too much. It may be like most new vehicles, it takes me time to adapt..but it sure does look a lot like every other car / suv hybrid type vehicle out right now. Maybe I'll come around once I see one in person....

thoughts?

only one question

Solid Front Axle?

[Edited on July 16, 2009 at 7:26 PM. Reason : I dont think it really looks bad, I guess the price range would matter too.]

^^thats a pretty big mistake. Its just like making a thread saying you have a 2006 civic and you are really excited about the 2011 civic and posting photos of the 2011 accord.

^ agreed.

I like the front end in the 2nd picture, but the rear in the subsequent pictures is less than desirable (very crossover, minivan-ish). I wish they would go back to a model that is more durable/offroad worthy. Those bumpers look far less effective than the earlier Grand models (like mine... personally tested & proven by how one almost totaled my mazda so many years ago and barely had a scratch ).

... nevertheless, I will always have crazy love for Grands and Jeeps in general (haha... at least I hope as we currently own 3 )

looks kinda cool except i would make the front of the hood higher, top of windshield not so curved, and rear looks like an x5

I got excited that they were bringing the cherokee back from your title, then read your first line and was amazed that you were the only person I know to have a one off 2006 Cherokee. Then I saw the picture and realized you meant Grand. On a side note, I still love my 1996 Grand Cherokee except replacing that gasket between the timing chain cover and block was a bitch due to a broken bolt that went through the water pump. I will keep driving that until something really major breaks and then it might be time to ball out on a Lexus IS.

i love the looks of the new gc. selectable ride height seems hot , i'm sure that will be one of the first things to break on them though. the new 4.7 v8 is a monster 305 hp and 330ftlbs of torque. i would get excited but i'll probably still be drivin my wj 6 yrs from now i can afford one.

and yes the missing "grand" from the thread title and name of the vehicle makes a huge difference.

i just don't think it'll look good w/ 33" BFG ATs and a rack with a jack and shovel in it

I got excited when I saw the thread title, then waaaahh waaaaaaaaaaaa... Grand Cherokee. Looks OK I guess. I cand kinda see some styling cues taken from the X5, but maybe that's just the crossover/minivan profile that everything seems to be trending towards.

If the title thread said 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I probably wouldn't have even bothered reading this.

looks like they finally put some polish and refinement into it. if it had the diesel as an option, it might even be worth buying.

the lack of "polish and refinement" is what made the old CHEROKEES worth buying....they were a very tough and dependable 4wd vehicle that would get you where you needed/wanted to go and then all you needed to do was wash it off and nothing was hurt.....it was basic and tough...
