ouch, good luck. Im sure there is something, but imo, the path b/w those two heads through the worst parts of NC and SC Your best bet for something in the middle probably is something along the SC coast

there are a couple of lakes about midway in SC (lake marion, and lake moultrie) that probably have some scenic spots worth checking out. chances are there will be a few B&B's there to.

If you don't want to go to Charleston, then you've made a good choice by going to the Helen area.I mean, even getting laid wouldn't really make being in South Carolina worthwhile.But seriously, the area near Helen is really nice.]

I'd second that Lake Marion is probably your best bet if you are looking for something easy for both of you. Maybe Beaufort, as a lesser visited version of Charleston.
