This has never been suggested before.A totally reasonable idea, but the fact that it was first pitched in 1988 and hasn't been implemented by now makes me fear it will never come to pass.

Actually, the username used to appear in the URL. They changed it, like, four years ago: message_topic.aspx?topic=323677

so this inspired me to code up some quick phpi am indexing all of the pictures on tww by username(s) that have them in their gallery, as well as what folder(s) they're in.11,515 pictures so far, i just started it. i'll let you know when it's done.how would you guys prefer to see the results? just a webform you could paste the picture URL into? a greasemonkey plugin? idk.i'll make the data publicly available for anyone who wants to do something i'm not planning on doing.

But for real thoughWouldn't this just tell us whose gallery (or galleries) the picture is in? You can't figure out who uploaded it, which is the more interesting info.

Yeah, just a web form lookup would be nice. Thanks!

^^yeah, but i have no way to access that information unless nael gives me some sort of sql privs, which isn't going to happen.this is better than nothing, though. most of the pictures i've seen in the db so far are only in one gallery to start with.(switched it over to console-based, btw, so i can run it without browser timeouts)(also, in case anyone (qntmfred?) is wondering, it only makes curl requests once per user, and then, if they have folders, once per folder. i also throttled it back somewhat, so it's not hammering the server by any means.)]

are you just screen scraping it?

curl + a bunch of regular expressions + some spidering logic + mysql]

http://tww.e00.us/photo.phpyou can either give it a photo URL or the numerical ID of the photo.very rudimentary, i'll see if i have time to code something better up.right now it takes a few seconds because it has to go to the user's profile page to figure out what their username is (based off of user number). i'll have a database of userids => usernames soon, so it should improve a bit.if your photo isn't there, check back later, it will appear as it is indexed. it's only gotten up to user # 5000 so far, i'll just leave it running.edit: i just added a thing to the main page that tells you what the last item indexed was, so you'll know if it's gotten to your userid yet.]
