So last night we had a torrential downpour (6" inches in less than 2 hours) and my car suffered some flood damage. By the time my roommate woke me up the parking lot was flooded and my car which is parked on an elevated curb had water level at the door jam. At this point i busted out two car jacks and raised up my car to buy it a few more inches but at this point water had already reached the tailpipe. This morning the flood waters were gone and I found about 1-2" of water in the cabin. Since the parking spaces are angled I think it all came in from the rear doors. I was able to start the car but there were some definite electrical problems as the windows and keyless entry don't work. Car is about to be towed to the Audi dealership in Greenville for assessment/repair.I got some nasty pictures of teh flood that i'll post later. Do u guys think they car will likely be totaled?

^^yeh, wilmington got socked yesterday... I'm seeing the aftermath today/tomorrow. but... your HOA shouldn't be responsible for this damage, most likely. I highly doubt they are legally bound to drain a 6.5" rainfall event that occurs in a few hours - that's a huge damn storm and when most of wilmington's storm sewer was installed, designing for that large of a storm may have not been required. I'm not familiar with the dates of the installs nor the regulations when they were installed, but I'm willing to bet it wasn't designed for such a storm. And this was anything but a casual summer evening thunderstorm. Most storms are about 1" and with hurricane influences, that average moves to 4 inches, but over a period of a day or so, not 4 hours.
