Running back Andre Brown, the Giants’ fourth-round draft choice (129th overall out of N.C. State), agreed to terms earlier today on a four-year contract. That came one day after the Giants announced the signings of their third-round pick (WR Ramses Barden) and their fifth-round pick (QB Rhett Bomar). The terms of Brown’s deal were not immediately available. Barden, according to an NFL source, got a four-year deal worth approximately $2.5 million. Bomar got a four-year deal worth approximately $2 million. Brown’s deal likely comes in right at the mid-point ($2.25 million), but according to a source it includes some “real” incentives which he believes he has a chance to hit that could substantially increase the value of the deal. The Giants still have not agreed to terms with WR Hakeem Nicks (first round), LB Clint Sintim (second), LT William Beatty (second), and TE Travis Beckum (third).Update: According to a league source, Brown’s deal is worth approximately $2.2 million, including a signing bonus of about $430,000. It also includes about $500,000 in what a source called “reachable incentives” and other incentives and escalators that could push the total package to around $4 million.

He's earned, and he's worth it. Even with his injury problems, I've been 99% sure Brown would play on Sundays. Ever since he ran over, around, or through the entire FSU defense on the 1st play from scrimmage in 2005... I just had to believe the kid was an incredible talent that was unfortunately hidden by mediocre, if not piss-poor O-line play.Kick some ass Andre

^ thats what I thought this thread was about
6/26/2009 11:24:55 AM
^^ hysterical, and awesome for Andre. I love seeing some WOLFPACK on Sundays almost as much as Saturdays.
6/26/2009 11:35:52 AM
I've seen a few people saying he could win the #2 RB spot.....One guy even said he's worth a late round chance in fantasy
6/26/2009 11:47:21 AM
That sounds pretty credible.
6/26/2009 11:50:56 AM
^^ yeah, if he does win and you handcuff him with Jacobs.

6/26/2009 4:22:56 PM
The thread could have absolutely been titled Andre the Giant and would have won thread of the month.
6/26/2009 4:31:34 PM
6/26/2009 5:06:13 PM
so we get to call him Andre the Giant now, right?
6/26/2009 5:30:50 PM
andre 3000..... yards
6/26/2009 6:25:02 PM
I've already applied for a patent with the patent office. It will be pending for 5 years, but I will sue Chris Berman anytime he says it.
6/26/2009 10:54:13 PM
I don't think Andre will get many touches this year unless the Giants lock up a playoff spot with a week or two to spare. I doubt they would use him the way they used Ward last year, and Bradshaw should still be the 3rd down rusher regardless.
6/28/2009 1:28:18 AM
If Andre is the #2, he will get a lot of touches. Don't expect Jacobs to make it through the season carrying the ball 20+ times a game, his bruising style takes too much of a toll on his body. Jacobs had 421 rushes in the past 2 seasons. Your typical primary rusher will get almost that many touches in a single season. Coughlin doesn't want to wear Jacobs out by the end of the year. He will split carries with Brown or someone else.[Edited on June 28, 2009 at 6:04 AM. Reason : 2]

^ might as well go ahead and get a custom jersey. No name 4th rounders don't show up in sporting good stores. And to be practical don't you wanna see if he makes the team before you buy the jersey?
6/29/2009 10:45:19 AM
yeah, Rivers was a first rounder and didnt get his jerseys in stores IN SAN DIEGO until he was on the team for a year or so
6/29/2009 12:46:01 PM
If Giants.com does end up releasing his jersey, then I'm guessing a 4th rounder will be cheaper than getting a custom made one.But now we have TWWers saying he will be the #2 back and others unsure if he will even make the team? Regardless if he does or not, which I'm positive he will but most likely as 3rd-4th string, I want to have his jersey as a Giant.
6/29/2009 3:16:56 PM
if you're worried about getting one on the cheap and not waiting too long for it, do a custom replica jerseywithout going to the giants site / nfl store right now, i can tell you there arent probably more than 6 jerseys they have...Eli, Jacobs, Plax, Strahan, Osi, Shockey...that'd be my guess...doubtful Andre even has a jersey available to buy online at any point this seasonjust went to the site...meant to say Tuck also...i was surprised to see Bradshaw and Sinorice...still doubt Andre has one this year[Edited on June 29, 2009 at 3:34 PM. For the record I like andre and hope he does really well I think he will make the team. Just saying training camp hasn't even begun and he has been injury prone the last few years so it wouldnt hurt to wait and see

pretty sure that was already posted in "nc state in the nfl"
8/3/2009 11:02:02 PM
Andre already knew this was coming. Thats why he rented out that boat for Masonboro over the 4th and had one last shindig in NC. You will see a lot of him down here still.

cuz it was posted two weeks ago?can i bitch cuz it is super old??
8/4/2009 10:18:35 PM
guys lets be serious. Brandon Jacobs is a powertrain. Sure, he is terrible moving left to right but he's a truck up the middle.Ahmad Bradshaw is one of the toughest inside the tackles runners in the game, if he's healthy he's one of the top 20 RB's in the NFL right now. It's like people just glossed over the Super Bowl where he put that offense on his back. Andre Brown had borderline productive seasons for us. As a freshman he was an ELITE back and even misled people into thinking Marcus Stone was a D-1 QB. But he wore down fast and I'd be surprised if he got 150 rushing yards this season. This is the NFL, not the ACC....
8/4/2009 10:44:31 PM
Andre Brown is a class act guy and I wish him the best!! Thanks for the great memories of you bulldozing through those FSU players that was fucking GREAT!!!
8/4/2009 10:45:46 PM
And here's rallydurham, keeping it real just being a douche

If you put Bradshaw behind NC State's line I doubt he'd get more than 800 yards rushing in a season. If you put Andre behind the Giants line I think he'll be more than fine.
8/5/2009 10:02:48 AM
We need a sticky thread where we just add predictions and such and revisit them later to see how it played out.I was the one that had the Paul Johnson thread bttt'd a couple months ago and I forgot to get around to posting in it. I got laughed out of the thread by people thinking he was going to be a bust. And, people might eventually figure out his system (assuming he doesn't evolve it). But, given how they are back in contention again (in an albeit still weak ACC), I think that is hardly anything but a bust. Sorry, back to your regularly scheduled Andre the Giant thread.

since Tiki left, G-men have thrived on a platoon approach. there's no doubt in my mind that Andre will get plenty of carries
8/5/2009 4:46:15 PM
Slow down guys. He has to win the 3rd RB spot first.Wait until you see a depth chart or something.
8/6/2009 12:35:21 PM
hope this comes thru, check out the video around the 1:05 mark. Andre will most likely be the # 3 back, but could turn into a good 3rd down back since he's such a good receiver out of the back field. I don't expect him to get many carries this year.
8/7/2009 1:07:59 PM
brown was in this weeks issue of sports illustrated, fantasy football preview
8/7/2009 1:59:23 PM
^^Bradshaw is too good on 3rd down to pass him up for a rookie
8/7/2009 2:22:36 PM

http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2009/08/rookie-brown-ruptures-his-achi.htmlThat... fucking... SUCKS...It's bad enough that Brown never got the credit he deserved coming out of college (thanks to injuries & years of running behind a shitty O-line), but this is just terrible. You have to feel for the guy. Rotten fucking luck, that's all there is to be said.Hang in there Andre, you'll get your shot.
