So my gym lets some local Karate place hold lessons there, its only for kids really, so its not some hard core MMA thing......anyways though, I see all these kids no older than 8-10 with like brown belts. I some how doubt a kid who still watches Barney is worthy of a brown belt just because he has been going to lessons for 4 years.

though it is true that thats really early for someone to have a brown belt... it is basically how early you start. and all of the knowledge you gather. i mean if you ask that 10 year old to do all of the things a brown belt is supposed to know... then do the same for a 20 year old... they will know the same stuff. and probably be able to both do it at an equal amount of accuracy. Blackbelt is one that tends to take a bit more maturity because it gets past the "general knowledge" and takes a BIG step. at least that is how it was when i studied.
