Need some parts hunting advice. I'm looking for a 6-gauge cluster for my 2005 Mustang GT, and I'd really like to pull one myself. Ford's price for the 2 parts I need are way beyond reason (almost $500). I'm planning to retrofit my current 4-gauge cluster with an IUP cluster. I've already got all the technical details worked out as far as flashing the IUP cluster with my current cluster's info and matching the odometer, but I just need to find the parts. These scarcely pop up on eBay, and the last one that did disappeared before the auction had run its course.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-09-2007-gt-mustang-my-color-instrument-cluster_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem29fe6b4b45QQitemZ180362103621QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

I need to find a 2005-2009 Mustang GT with an intact dash and cluster. Can anyone recommend a junkyard in this area (or further out, I'm willing to travel about as far as Charlotte to get it) which might have recent Mustangs? I've tried searching online but haven't had any luck yet.

can you not find it on car-part.com? Some kind of junkyard database, I believe.

I would try City Auto Salvage in Durham

(919) 834-9242

They have two locations. I found a body control module for my '04 maxima there at about 1/3 of the price from Nissan parts. Worth a shot.....

^^ Nope. That site was recommended to me about 7 months ago, and I haven't once had a hit on it. I'm just guessing that the parts I want aren't cataloged as normal since they have to be reprogrammed. Its a stretch, but it's the only explanation I can come up with.

These parts are really quite scarce, aside from paying through the nose to get them from Ford. I try to check eBay about twice a week for these, and the set in that link up there is the only once I've seen in about a year. I have no idea why the guy pulled it down, but he stopped the auction very shortly after he listed it. I have a sneaking suspicion that someone made him an under the table offer, but he wouldn't answer any of my questions about it. I've also posted on Craigslist with no luck.

there is a yard in clayton on 70 just before you get into smithfield, that has a GT sitting there. its been there for like a month. problem is that yard only deals with insurance claims(i think). and its not a you pull it. good luck, and id like to know where you get it from.

^ Thanks for the tip. I'll have to ride out there and see if it's got what I want in it and then see if I can negotiate.

Same guy who posted the last one for about a day and then pulled the listing down. Wonder what will happen this time?

my buddies 05 doesnt display 4 colors of the complete my color set up.

what are you gonna do about the miles. ive nver replaced a digital cluster before. Is the info saved from the computer, and you can just pop in any old cluster and it will display the right miles

#1 thats not clayton technically, its wilsons mills or selma or something, but it aint clayton

#2 thats not headed toward smithfield, its headed towards kenly, and its on the 70 bypass

#3 thats not a junkyard, its an auction that sells salvaged cars to junkyards, its called adessa impact IIRC and unless you have a dealer license or are a registered salvage business then I wouldnt get your hopes up

^^ The new cluster has to have its internal memory flashed with settings from my current cluster so that mileage and VIN will match. This is 100% do-able with the right Ford software so long as the new parts function properly. Ford typically bills something called a "core charge" to do this.

Also, the wiring harness has to be a complete match in order to get the cluster to correctly display all of the car's info. Ford had started removing the wiring harness as a cost-cutting measure on some '07-'09 Mustangs, but I've taken my console apart and made certain that I've got everything I need. I've been researching this for about 4 years now, so here's hoping I can finally get these parts!

I swear. Somebody just bid this thing up over $200, and there's still 4 days left. There goes my hope of getting this particular one.

god damn you are stupid. that part of hwy 70, including the new part that goes towards selma (sorry NeuseRiverRat not kenly) is the BYPASS

thats a cute map, but it does not prove your point. living in the area, I can assure you that you are incorrect... also that part of 70 is not "just before you get into smithfield" it isnt even how you would go to smithfield. to be sure, lets ask the DOT

thanks DOT

oh and by the way there are 17 townships in johnson county, the closest to the location of this place is WILSONS MILLS... you can actually see this very clearly on that cute map you posted earlier- 60 Sadisco Road is also close to the unincoporated community of Powhatan. I dont care what address the postmaster general gave it- it is a couple miles from clayton city limits.

wilsons mills is a crossroads on 70

most folks don't even know where it is, especially wake county folks.
