What do you guys think of this Idea:A place where you can directly fund research (or anything really, maybe a water balloon launcher). The framework I have in mind is a place where you might propose an idea to the community, with details as you see fit.It could be something you want to do, in which case there would be a way donate to the project, either monetarily or advice or time and work. Or, the second option is you have an idea that you want to see done, but don't have the expertise to do it. In that case you would propose the idea to the community along with some initial donation ( a dollar). If the community likes it, they will pitch in and it will get moved up or down on the list of available projects according to popularity. Eventually that project will become worthwhile for someone to pick up, and they can claim in and complete it within some fixed time frame. once complete, payment goes through. Of course, all projects would be open.what do you think... good, bad, get off the internet?

other people are just like me. they're not giving their money to me or anybody else, thanks

is there not a website for this?

there probably is. i'm sure tons of people have tried this. it's actually a neat idea too i guess, but unless you get a critical mass of people seeing concrete results for their investments, it's not likely to take off

What if you changed it to dares instead of science. I think people would be much more likely to pay out a buck to see someone release a pack of raccoons in their coworkers cubicle

now that sounds like a winner

i bet people would give you money if you stood on a corner downtown and continued to fail this hard
