Awful attempt at linking... but does look pretty sick.

cool concept, and would probably be fun for some things, but here are the issues I have:1. Much like the wii, it would probably get old before too long.2. things like changing tires during a racing game? c'mon. really?3. who has that much room to move around for kicks and shit in their room?
6/2/2009 12:53:21 PM
4. You look like a retard.

why? It has cameras and microphones so it can tell what you are doing/ saying. It's supposed to be released later this year, what's not to believe?

Sega did it.Seriously though, it does look pretty cool. I'm definitely skeptical at this point though. I don't want to fall into the "Wii" trap again where I'm thinking, "hey this is really cool, different and fun," then I finally come to the realization that I'm playing a very simple game with an incredibly imprecise controller.[Edited on June 2, 2009 at 1:40 PM. it has the potential to be really coolof course, so did the eyetoy, etc.i'll reserve judgment until i see what devs can really do with itif it's just going to be a creepy little boy simulator, pass

I'm super skeptical. The kind of stuff they are doing in the previews for it are the same type of things that Nintendo had in their Wii trailers three years ago, and we are still yet to get a lot of stuff like that. Until I read some reviews, I'm not gonna believe that it truly has 1:1 motion capture.
6/2/2009 2:10:09 PM
so are there going to be sex games or what?
6/2/2009 2:43:57 PM
The company that Microsoft bought for Project Natal demoed the device in January of '08 for Ars Technica and they were impressed then. So why in the hell wouldn't the project be even more solidified a year and a half later?http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2008/01/3dv-shows-off-wii-like-camera.ars
6/2/2009 3:00:21 PM
Hell, if they make it so I can control the NXE interface like i'm in Minority Report, I'm sold.

Not trying to troll here but I am extremely disappointed in the PS3. I've had one for quite sometime now and in the last 6-7 months I haven't turned it on once. The only time its been on is so that my friend can plug his blackberry in to the USB port to charge since he doesn't have a wall-charger. I've been checking online frequently though for any games that might grab my attention and I have yet to find one except for the cross-platform games that I already have on xbox. Also i've stopped even watching blu-ray movies because I just stream from netflix (although not always in HD and not in the same quality either) or I rent/buy HD movies on AppleTV. The only reason I really have a PS3 is for movies and even thats lost its appeal because I'd rather just have everything on a hard drive.so...that said i didn't see what sony presented at E3...anything interesting?[Edited on June 3, 2009 at 11:44 AM. A handful of games and what is essentially a tech demo of their version of the Wiimote.Meanwhile:

^ Yeah until Microsoft gets sued because the thing keeps identifying some fat woman as a big hairy man.
6/3/2009 12:06:05 PM
I'll wait to see about how it deals with multiple people around you while you are attempting to play
6/3/2009 12:06:24 PM
I would think that MS could make a handheld remote to work with the camera if they wanted it to be uber-precise with swords or guns like the Wii or PS3 will be. However, the Wii and PS3 are not going to be able to do what Natal will as far as full body mocap. We will see though, the reports I am reading from people who demoed it at E3 are pretty good. A release timeframe would have been nice. Cool thought:

I wonder if the next generation console will just be a damn holodeck, star trek style
6/3/2009 3:35:12 PM
6/3/2009 3:39:22 PM
remember that action pad that was released for the genesis that supposedly recognized your movements for games like mortal kombat
6/3/2009 3:42:16 PM
This looks like it will be more awesome than using 2 wiimotes and a wii pad at the same time.Microsoft's side project is more awesome than Nintendo's whole system.

microsoft and sony's demos looked leaps and bounds above the wiisony has buttons and arm/wrist movement translation, didn't see anything indicating it tracks body position or movement, but at least it had a real tech demomicrosoft has leg and body movement translation + voice command, i'm uncertain how well the skeleton tracking works across the board, but seems promising

As for the Milo thing, I wouldn't trust it being anything amazing.Peter Molyneux is a silver tongued bastard who somehow convinces everyone that his next project is going to be the greatest game in history, then it comes out to a resounding "meh".See: Black & White, Fable,

What does everyone expect the price point to be?I expect a base Natal accessory with just a few minigames for around $150, and a bundle with a couple of games for $200.Also one bundled with the system of course.[Edited on June 4, 2009 at 12:01 AM. Reason : ]

MS bought the tech from another company which had working demos a year ago. There are even some technical details floating around about how it works exactly (mostly software based IIRC).

I am fucking impressed. Seriously. Milo will probably disappoint, but the rest looks legit. Here's an idea:why not include a headtracking in-game "camera" for first person games?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-UwThis would be a developer thing of course. So easy with what they already have.oh, and the jab at the wii, letting you sit on the couch with "some preset waggle motion" is spot on. I always hated how you didn't really have to move much with the wii mote. This is different.[Edited on June 4, 2009 at 7:04 AM. Reason : .]

the wii still serves a purpose, there are plenty of games that are more fun to play on the wiimote than a controller, but will not translate well to full body motion. Also, for me, id only want the full body motion for games where I will probably be playing by myself fully emerged in the game. If I am hanging out with my friends and turning to talk to them, drinking etc. while playing the games, its not going to work too well with full body tracking. This still looks cool and im interested to hear more about it, but they both serve different purposes for sure.
