Has anyone ever rented here? Big apartment complex located off Edwards Mill/Creedmore before you get to the mall. A friend and I are thinking of renting a 2 bedroom apartment. Seems pretty nice and the amenities are appealing. If you know anything about it any info would be appreciated. I'm interested in what kind of crowd stays there? We aren't looking for a place that is crazy loud and full of partying. Also, what do the bills/utilities typically cost? Pros/cons? Thanks for any help.

I've got a good friend that lives there, definitely a nice complex. Not a rowdy bunch at all, mostly upperclassmen, grad students, and young professionals.

It's a good place to live, lots of hot broads and the gyms are nice. My only gripe was the parking.

Don't give camden your real phone number. I went to two camden places in Charlotte last week looking for an apartment and now I've gotten like 10 calls from camden owned places I didn't even go to. Some of them called me multiple times and I don't feel like calling all of them back to tell them no.

I live in a Camden managed complex in Chapel Hill, so maybe I can give a little more insight into the Camden chain as a whole. They do tend to be nicer, and they try and gear towards younger families and older students, like graduate level and such. Where I live it's always been relatively quiet and the management does everything they can to ensure it stays that way.

As far as amenities, I am not sure if Camden Manor Park does this as well, but we are required to pay for valet trash and cable. Now, I don't mind the cable (although it's the same cost as getting it directly from TWC), but I do mind paying for them to come pick up my trash. I would much rather walk my garbage ~100 feet and not pay $30 a month. It may seem nice now, but you can only put your garbage out for pick up between 6 and 8 pm, and only one bag at a time, and never on weekends. So, we end up taking a lot of our trash to the dumpster anyways, which I'm not complaining about, I just wish I didn't have to pay the fee. But keeping this in mind, tack about $70 onto the advertised rent on their website or brochure (unless it specifically says it's included).

Another thing to consider is their storage units (I think all Camden properties offer this). You can get a storage unit for $9 a month, if you sign up for it for 6 months, and it's really pretty big.

Additionally, they have utility set up all through their website. So you can hook up everything very easily and manage it all in the same place if you want to. You can also pay rent/water/valet trash online too. The management is pretty nice and they're very prompt with any maintenance issues. They also call every now and then to see if there's anything you'd like to change about how the place is run. It's a good community to be in, especially if they can keep the crazy undergrads out.

I lived there for 2 years while at NCSU...only place I ever renewed my lease while in school and I probably would still be there if I hadn't moved to another state for a job. We were the first people in our apartment so everything was brand new. The valet trash thing kind of sucks, but if you make sure to put out a bag when it gets full instead of letting it pile up inside, you wont have to take it out yourself. Cable was free for us, we just paid like $12 a month for DVR. As hydro said, there are hotties everywhere and you can't beat the view of the pools around summertime. Parking does suck depending on where you live in the complex. If you work late, count on parking about a football fields distance away from your door. If you get home before 6pm or so, most people will still be at work or out and parking isnt bad. I ended up getting a garage for $100 bucks a month.
They are really good about maintenance...we even had to get a guy to come out at like 2 am when the plumbing got clogged cause a girl under us put a diaper in there or something. Flooded my bathroom and part of my room, but they had a crew come right out and fix it all and clean it all up.
Utilities arent bad...I think I spent less than $100 a month on everything (cable, electricity, etc).
I would recommend it if you can afford the rent. It was supposed to go up the year I left so I dont know what it is now...was like $950/mo (split two ways with me and my roommate) for our 2 bedroom place.
