i sure hope you don't mean lost as in it backed out while driving and mysteriously vaporized in the valve cover. i don't think your valvetrain would be too happy about that. i'm terrible about misplacing fasteners/parts/tools when i'm working on something. fwiw, whenever i pull a head i always cut a piece of corrugated cardboard from a box or something. then, poke holes in it to slide the bolts or studs/nuts into. keeps them all together and keeps track of which fastener went in what hole. cutting out another piece about the size of the head makes for a nice semi cushioned/non abrasive place to set the head on too after you pull it.[Edited on May 12, 2009 at 8:04 PM. Reason : ^i would assume his ka-t probably...?]

i hate that feeling when a job is done and a small tool is missing after i swapped my motor we were driving it down the block the first time. heard something rattle bounce of some stuff and hit the ground. friend, "what was that" me, "i must have two because we are still rollin! "

lol, i can't begin the count the number of times i've taken something for a test drive, heard the same sound, and looked in the mirror just in time to see a box wrench, screw driver, or socket bouncing down the road. hence the reason i've never bothered to buy nice hand tools. i'm generally good about getting all the parts/pieces back on the vehicle (especially if it's not mine), but it might take me a while to round everything up.

I've had that sound too.. except I never found out what it was. Just played it off cool with the wife in the passenger seat

i guess you figured it out, but you can get parts individually.i got a nut from them (rod bolt iirc) once that was not threaded.

main stud kit for small block mopar requires you to buy an individual stud/nut or bolt to fit under the oil pump. why they ship every kit without the correct pieces I do not know but hopefully they've fixed it

I love finding tools

the best is when you find free shit from the last person that worked on it

gotta pass 32% of light in NC. mine passes 31.5% consistently and it's hell getting it passed. it's got 35% film from the guy who had it before me, but combined with the glass it comes to 31.5%. it sucks.
