the whoalina whathawks thread
5/9/2009 4:53:20 PM
It seems that they are currently sitting in first place. Pretty sure they finished at or near the bottom the last two years, so that's a nice turnaround.

No smoking??? At a sporting event????????????????WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?
5/9/2009 5:51:45 PM
It's soccer AND there is no drinking? Sure, I'll be right there.
5/9/2009 8:37:07 PM
oh ok, so its soccer
5/9/2009 8:37:39 PM
That's no different than any other sporting event. You have to buy your alcohol inside and not bring it in. I would have went, if I didn't a graduation party for a friend to go to.
5/9/2009 11:20:47 PM
5/9/2009 11:27:40 PM
^^ not sure if you consider nascar a sport but you can bring whatever you want in. As long as it is not in a glass bottle. it's part of the reason I'm a nascar fan.

your post is 10 minutes after mine and you wrote the exact same thing.
5/9/2009 11:51:26 PM
funny. however i didnt anything about coolers. guess i need to pay more attention to that. Or i was just siding with you by saying the guy was wrong. take it however you want, but soccer is fucking boring anyway.

5/10/2009 12:07:33 AM
So I'm in Southern Arizona....watching the news....turn to a Spanish channel and they're talking about FUTBOL EN CAROLINA DE NORTE...DE CAROLINA RAILHAWKS MAGNIFICO I was like then they just kept talking up the Railhawks like they're tomorrow's version of the Yankees of American soccer. Weird...
5/10/2009 1:06:25 AM
ugh that sucks. i thought that team with beckham was the yankees of soccer.
5/10/2009 2:23:15 AM
5/10/2009 11:49:45 AM
Yeah it's pretty awkward
5/10/2009 12:02:05 PM
hahahahahaha oh so they actually have a dance team??
5/10/2009 12:23:45 PM
^^^that sounds pretty awkward, looking at girls born in the mid 90s dancing provocatively.
5/10/2009 5:45:33 PM
they used to have a dance team comprised of college-aged girls because i know a few girls who were on the teami havent been to a game in 2 years though so i am assuming they got rid of that team and replaced it with kids
5/10/2009 6:03:06 PM
^As far as I know it was always high school girls. Some are probably in college now though.Tuesday is the first round of the US Open Cup vs the Richmond Kickers. I'm planning on going.
6/8/2009 2:13:26 AM
the fact that they are HS girls probably increases the fan turnout. hey, pedophiles are better than empty seats
6/8/2009 2:18:58 AM
^There aren't any pedophiles there.Anyway, the Railhawks are the number 1 team in the league right now.
6/8/2009 2:23:33 AM
They are redoing the turf on the stadium field, so tonights game will be held on the lower field and tickets are only $5.
6/9/2009 11:48:40 AM
i need to buy a caleb norkus kit
6/9/2009 11:50:08 AM
We won in the US Open Cup tonight 2 to 1 vs Richmond.Thursday we play Portland and it is thirsty Thursday. That means $1 hot dogs and $1 beer.
6/9/2009 9:43:21 PM
We tied Portland 0-0 tonight. We had a player given a red card and Portland was allowed to foul us all they wanted without even getting a yellow card.
6/11/2009 9:53:39 PM
Playing the Wilmington Hammerheads tonight.$5 tickets, $1 beers.
6/16/2009 11:13:39 AM
I am going.
6/16/2009 6:01:11 PM
I will be watching online... hope it doesn't rain
6/16/2009 6:06:58 PM
I'm going too and might take my giantcards in if it doesn't look like it will rain too hard.
6/16/2009 6:11:09 PM
make sure you give Curfman hell for sucking last year and I guess you could do the same for Solle, even though I thought he was pretty good
6/16/2009 6:11:56 PM
Is that a promotional thing, the $1 beers? Shit, I would have went.Damn, why do I always gotta be in the wrong state at the right time? And where are you streaming this from?[Edited on June 16, 2009 at 7:09 PM. Reason : .]
6/16/2009 7:08:10 PM
They've only done it the last two games... probably to entice fans to come to weekday games. They should probably keep it up though, I imagine it would get a lot more college-age kids out there.http://www.usllive.com - you have to sign up for an account but it's free.. all of their games are on there.[Edited on June 16, 2009 at 7:10 PM. Reason : usl live]
6/16/2009 7:09:32 PM
Good deal, the thought of going to a game crossed my mind last week. I think $1 beer may have sold me for the next game.
6/16/2009 7:16:19 PM
haha...I need to venture in sports talk more. Didn't know there was a thread for the railhawks.I've been to every game this year so far and they're a lot of fun. Definitely worth while for living in Raleigh. And they're actually really good.
6/16/2009 10:05:07 PM
Lost to the Wilmington Hammerheads tonight in PKS in the US Open Cup thoughPretty crazy game, 1-1 after 90 minutes, 3-3 after 30 minutes extra time^ I think that just means you can't bring your own beer in. Also, I don't think they're strict on the camera/umbrellas rules[Edited on June 16, 2009 at 10:29 PM. Reason : .]
6/16/2009 10:07:08 PM
^Yeh that sucked coming from behind and then blowing it. For those who didn't watch...RegulationWH lead 1-0CR tie it at 1-1Into OT we goWH lead 2-1CR tie it 2-2CR lead 3-2WH tie 3-3 on the last free kick play of regulation in injury time about 10 second before the final whistle.PKsCR-miss-score-score-score-missWH-score-score-score-score
6/16/2009 10:45:53 PM
yeah I saw you in the crowd with your awesome soccer ball hat and oversized yellow card, gg
6/16/2009 10:47:12 PM
It was funny! Everytime they got a yellow card I ran down by their support group who traveled to Raleigh and they would start yelling at me. [Edited on June 16, 2009 at 11:02 PM. Reason : .]
6/16/2009 10:54:18 PM
if you say so duuuude
6/16/2009 10:56:26 PM
One of my greatest sports memories is being drunk in Wilmington at the USOC game where they beat Dallas Burn.Good times during the game, but the Irish guys in the Hammerheads' supporters group bought me too many beers after.
6/17/2009 3:57:11 AM
Results of PKHammerheads- 4Railhawks- 3Broken bass drums- 1
6/17/2009 7:50:16 AM
6/17/2009 8:26:13 AM
I'd be more inclined to attend Railhawks games if there was a promotion/relegation system in place.
6/17/2009 8:31:01 AM
are the railhawks in the same league as the team in VA Beach?
6/17/2009 8:32:08 AM
They were going to be but they folded the offseason before the RailHawks startedactually I just looked at wiki and they have a PDL team called the Piranhas which is in the amateur league of the USL system. I thought it was strictly women's teams there since the Mariners folded but apparently I'm wrong[Edited on June 17, 2009 at 8:55 AM. Reason : Piranhas]
6/17/2009 8:53:05 AM
Yeah that game totally blew. The central defender looked terrible to whole game. Way too shaky. I can't believe they let him take that last PK. Plus he was wearing gloves even though it wasn't cold outside I was the guy who yelled, "What the fuck was that call?" when the Railhawks player got carded in the 95th minute right after it got real quiet. Too much to drink...But I think I'm gonna start going to more games. It was fun and the $1 beers didn't hurt either.
