Aight, I rebuilt the front knuckles and installed new steering studs, popped in my 3rd member, shafts, and reassembled the hubs and all. backed it outta teh drive way, and the lockrite locked, causeing it to not steer worth a shit unless I was moving, so I thoughthmmm my hubs must be locked, so I unlocked them, same shit. And the shaft was still spinning. So I took out the drive shaft, same shit. I think either the hubs or the diff is messing up. A friend said I may have not assembled the hubs correctly, but I don't know what is right or wrong, Ive never had this be an issue b4. I didn't know there was a wrong or right way to reassemble a hub. Thoughts?

aisin hubs i assume? it is possible to assemble them so they won't unlock. i'd say that's probably your issue. unbolt/pull them off and see what happens.

i'd say hubs also. i know that i've put hubs in incorrectly before, they are keyed or something some way and only go on one way. that might not be what you did or whatever but yea

that locker should only lock if torque is applied to it. for sure not on the street in 2wd and with unlocked hubs.

I'll try and remove and inspect them, then bolt them back up 2marrow after work. And yes they are aisin hubs.

you may have installed the hubs on the wrong sides, but it still shouldn't lock unless the springs are in wrong

aisin hubs pissed me off because i had the same issue. i hate to sound like a big red neck but swapped them out for the warn hubs. never had a problem after that. the 3rd cant be messed up unless you some how had the welding ferry come by and take care of dem spiders.

btw i miss the old 4runner. last picture of it before it got sold.
