http://www.adultswim.com/video/?episodeID=8a25059520aa06ea0120ab9df79a0017

Series consists of 10 5-minute episodes, and 1 10-minute finale. The whole thing will be shown back-to-back on Cartoon Network on the 24th of April, but the segments begin airing tonight on http://www.adultswim.com at 6:00pm.

I am so much more excited for this than I am the less-than-impressive looking Rise of Cobra movie.

^^ Yeah, looks like 2 episodes per weekday. I thought it was only going to be 1 per day, so this is a nice surprise.

^ It does have the seriousness of the comics with some big tips of the hat to the cartoon. The Larry Hama comics were absolutely incredible.

I have a feeling that this miniseries is going to put the upcoming movie to shame.

I always knew Snake Eyes was a great character, but this is the baddest incarnation of of him I have seen since 1982. I'm both surprised and impressed that the writers wrapped up the ninja story arc this early into things.

All episodes plus the finale is tonight at midnight. I'm disappointed that it's all already over.

I thought the finale was much too short, but this may yet be a taste of things to come... Hasbro has said that they'd be open to doing more Resolute if this one went over well.

Read that this was written by Warren Ellis, which explains the quality to me. They couldn't have just made this the movie because...

Fun read by Ellis about how the project came about:

^^ Interesting read. I had no idea that he had no previous exposure to any incarnations of these characters in comics or cartoons.

Hasbro is already playing catch-up to crank out new Resolute toys. I wish they would do that new HISS tank.

True that.

I've recently seen that the Resolute Destro toy has a removable robotic arm as well as a regular arm. This strongly leads me to believe that there's already more written and planned for this series.

I do love the blue beams from the cobra guns and the fact that no one hits anyone. Kinda fitting that snake eyes is the only one to actually kill people

I'm just very surprised that Bazooka is the only GI Joe to have died, and Storm Shadow and Zartan are the only 2 main character Cobras to have died. Of course, if the series continues, it's safe to assume that Zartan isn't really dead. Storm Shadow is a little different, but he "died" in the comics, so I guess it could happen here too.

The main thing which seemed strange to me is that a platoon of HISS tanks couldn't shell a downed AWACS plane. That's like the height of missing a target. I was thinking we were going to see some big casualties in that last episode, but evidently not. It feels more and more like a safe bet that this is going to go on.

I do wonder how the producers of the Rise of Cobra might feel about the general reception of this series?

two joes got taken out by the satellite thing when it fell down into the atmosphere

but then later, when tunnel rat(?) was parachuting to earth, you see 2 parachutes in the back... i guess those were the two guys who got knocked off the satellite?

i dunno

i thought the animation was great, but that even though they made the violence more "adult" the dialogue was obviously written by 12-year-olds.

better than the movie probably will be, that's for sure

I think the Joe's and Cobra's train at the same shooting range as Storm Troopers.

Just started watching this.

The conventional animation is good, but the CGI parts wouldn't even look good 10 years ago. That aircraft carrier sucks especially.

yeah who cares it's a cartoon not some CGI feature film. it's already going to kick the real movie's ass and beyond.

if "it's a cartoon not some CGI feature film" then they should actually take the effort to draw things rather than build a half ass CGI model.

CGI is used in plenty of cartoons these days, normally the cartoons don't look that realistic anyway, so cheap CGI doesn't stick out (family guy, simpsons, etc) or they take the time to do it well (high budget Anime).
