Slow, unathletic, short white guys will be sure to excel in Rich Rodriguez's offense.
4/15/2009 11:04:24 AM
As an Ohio State fan, this REALLY amuses me.

Kinda looks like a character in an Adam Sandler movie. Kinda like a cross between Little Nicky and the Water Boy.Oh, and since I don't keep up with college basketball all that much... did they kick him off the basketball team for sucking or something. I thought I saw the guy riding the pine during one of those tournament games.[Edited on April 15, 2009 at 11:15 AM. Reason : -]
4/15/2009 11:11:54 AM
he's a senior, but yes he did suck so he was benched from starting
4/15/2009 11:18:31 AM
OLD
4/15/2009 11:20:12 AM
Is he gettin' a degree from Duke at all?
4/15/2009 11:22:05 AM
he already got a PHD
4/15/2009 11:22:44 AM
Wait, if he is good enough to suit up for Michigan... why didn't he play football at Duke?
4/15/2009 11:28:44 AM
^I'm pretty sure Coach K told Paulus that he couldn't play football at Duke while playing basketball. I could be wrong though.
4/15/2009 11:31:17 AM
Is he going to be able to play basketball for Duke when he is playing football for Michigan? I.e. he'd be losing out on basketball either way... unless Michigan is letting him on the bb team as well.^^Probably because he wanted to be on a decent team.[Edited on April 15, 2009 at 11:35 AM. 4/15/2009 11:33:59 AM
^is that a serious question???
4/15/2009 11:36:10 AM
So will he have 4 years of eligibility? I thought there was some stupid rule that the second you step onto a college campus your eligibility in all sports begins. It's really asinine to think about it. What if you are a genius that can enroll in college when you are 15 and can ball your ass off on a basketball court, but b/c you haven't matured enough physically coaches can't really run the risk of having you play football until you turn 18. Say that despite being a great athlete you have no desire to play professionally and want to become a brain surgeon, but couldn't otherwise pay for it since you are poor. The kid could play ball for 4 years, graduate with his BS in 3, get accepted by the school's medical school, and to help pay for the remaining 3 years of medical school he could play football. If the NCAA really cared about the student in student-athlete they'd let this occur.
4/15/2009 11:37:09 AM
yeah and he's also gonna be on the crew team at Princetonhe's like the white deion sanders
4/15/2009 11:37:12 AM
^^he still has 1 yr of football eligibility left.
4/15/2009 11:39:23 AM
so does he have to sit out a year or because he's transferring to play a different sport, that rule doesn't apply?
4/15/2009 11:41:57 AM
And he's 6-1, 180.

saw on espn this morning he might be working out with the packers...QB controversy in Geen Bay during the off season...No Way....actually i dont think there will be much of a decision between him and rogers[Edited on April 15, 2009 at 11:47 AM. Reason : not much of a decision]
4/15/2009 11:46:34 AM
yeah I'm sure Rodgers is looking over his shoulderUnless he had already bought a mongloid costume for Halloween, I don't think he's too worried about it
4/15/2009 11:47:58 AM
His eligibility for basketball is over... he has played for 4 years and cannot play another. The move to michigan has absolutely nothing to do with basketball (except maybe the fact that he will not be playing pro ball what so ever, and this is a last ditch effort to be a pro athlete)

This topic, besides being [old], is not worthy of its own thread in sports talk.[Edited on April 15, 2009 at 12:32 PM. Reason : Just saying.]
4/15/2009 12:31:48 PM
it started off worthy, until retarded questions about playing bball at michigan and green bay talk entered.
4/15/2009 12:36:19 PM
4/15/2009 12:40:42 PM
Im confused where the 1 year eligibility comes from though...why that number? Seems like it should either be 4 (because he hasnt played football in college) or 0 (since hes played 4 years of college sports). And I realize Michigan was awful last year, but is their QB situation bad enough theyd try a guy who hasnt played the position in 4 years?
4/15/2009 12:50:06 PM
I think it is tied to the 5 to play 4 rule. I was not aware the clock applied to all subsequent sports.
4/15/2009 12:52:12 PM
He has an assumed red-shirt year in football. It is the same reason why Russell Wilson was a redshirt freshman in football this year while a true sophomore in baseball.

I can't access WRAL's sports page from work anymore b/c the idiots decided to make it wralsportsfan.com. The sports part alerts the software that blocks sites at work. I can access Yahoo Sports though for some reason.
4/15/2009 2:18:34 PM
i can't believe i'm actually defending a dookie, but i don't think he's as slow and unathletic as some of you think. maybe his lateral quickness isn't that great, but i'd guess he's got good enough end to end speed to make him a running threat from the backfield. i think he also threw like 150 TD's in high school, so he probably has a decent arm. his class was admittedly weak, but scrubs aren't typically ranked #1 at their position
4/15/2009 2:30:36 PM

i don't like Paulus or anything, but it's interesting, because i think he was like the #1 QB the year he graduated and was also i think a top 5 PG...pretty cool athletically speaking. He kind of is the "White Deion Sanders" as Slave Famous noted.
4/15/2009 4:06:59 PM
his athleticism decreased from year to year
4/15/2009 4:11:42 PM
Is this a really late April Fools joke? I could see maybe at a smaller school...but NFL career? ffs
4/15/2009 4:16:58 PM
Except Dion was actually a professional athlete.A white Deon might be someone like John Elway who could have played major league baseball at the same time he played football and Danny Ainge who did play in the MLB before NBA and is the only person ever to be a 1st team All-American in baseball, football, and basketball while in HS (thank you Wikipedia).
4/15/2009 4:18:25 PM
as the above article suggests, I think its more likely that he ends up at a lower tier school than Michigan. From what I've seen and read, Tate Forcier seems to be the shoe-in at QB this year for Michigan. Unless Paulus is damn good, he'd probably be riding the pine at UM.
4/15/2009 4:39:34 PM
paulus could have played QB and PG at almost any school in the country, except Duke. He went to Duke, so he didn't play QB. I don't think he'll be very good but why not give him a shot, they did have him ranked very highly a few years ago.
4/15/2009 7:39:57 PM
Why doesn't he go back to Da Cuse?
