i found the thread title and initial post very informative. For people that don't want to click through, there is legislation in the US House that may lift the restrictions facing US citizens wanting to travel to Cuba.

Why is there still an embargo against Cuba again? I think it's pretty clear that we won the cold war, we are not in danger from "communist aggression", and cuban cigars are fucking sweet. Somebody, please help me understand.

For the most part, I think the Cuban-American population was against the latest round of sanctions that were imposed by the previous administration. These were the stricter ones that tightened communications with and curbed remittances between Cuban-Americans and their brethren on the island.
