Who here has taken it or is taking it? Thoughts? I currently take Effexor, which works great for me.

someone told me they lost their sex drive after taking zoloft

Loss of sex drive is common with all SSRI's as far as I know.If that's truly the case, I'd hate to see what would happen if I quit taking one. Mine is already pretty high.

i've taken both zoloft and effexor (and others)zoloft sucked, by far the worst drug i've been on. i gained weight, had zero sex drive (and when i did have the desire it wouldn't work), and had memory problems. the best thing i ever did was get off everything, sucked for a little while but much better in the long run.[Edited on April 10, 2009 at 10:38 PM. I have been on Zoloft for 5 years now and I will probably stay on it for the rest of my life. Less frequent panic attacks, fewer mood swings, and I generally feel better. Less worried and overwhelmed. And I have tried going off of it a few times, but life is much better on it. The only side effects that I have experienced are slight dry mouth, increased thirst, and I definitely feel it when I miss a dose.I tried Prozac and Paxil prior to trying Zoloft. Prozac blew. Paxil was the worst experience that I have ever had with a medication. I think of Zoloft as being a very user friendly medication. I have only known one person who quit taking it due to difficulty orgasming. I have never experienced any sexual side effects.

I was on Zoloft for a year. It was the only type of that medication that I have ever taken and i have recently considered going back on it.

I took it for a couple of days and it made me really nauseous and gave me bad headaches...anyone else have that problem?

Took Zoloft...it sucked, made me feel worse than depressed. I just couldn't feel anything. Now I'm on Wellbutrin XL....it makes me stable and doesn't make me feel like crap. But yeah, why change if it works!

Actually, truth be known...if any of you who no longer take it have any, I'd love to lay my hands on it. My better half can't afford to see another shrink to get hers refilled.

i took lexapro for like 4 months and hated it. but due to recent stress(es)/(ors)/whatever i'm going back to the doctor soon and will likely get at least one Rx (or i hope). i have a friend that takes celexa (sp?). i don't know. the only anti anxiety/anti depressant i ever took was lexapro and i hated it so much...but it is one of the medicines that people rave about. it just wasn't for me i guess--it just made me feel really weird/not good.i hope i can find something else though. i don't even like the idea of taking medicine and after i stopped taking lexapro i just tried to exercise and use therapy and changed my diet etc, and those things actually made a huge positive difference. but now i have way bigger issues.

^^I was on celexa/citalopram for awhile, zoloft for awhile, and finally switched to wellbutrin. It caused me to LOSE weight because it took away my appetite and has not had any negative effects on my sex drive except to possibly enhance it.If I can just find a different job, I'd be able to get off the anxiety meds as well. They are starting to lose effect
