I'm going to be in Detroit next weekend with my girlfriend and was wanting to stay in one of the casinos there. There seems to be three main ones, the MGM Grand, Motorcity, and Greektown. Has anyone been to any of these and have any advice or opinions on which to choose? From research online it seems that by price it's MGM>Motorcity>Greektown.

just curious why would you go to Detroit?

I have stayed at both MGM and Motorcity. The rooms at motorcity are pretty nice, but I wasnt impressed with the Casino. MGM is alot nicer.

My girlfriend goes to MSU, and I'm flying out of Detroit on Sunday, so I figured it would be cool for us to check one of them out on Saturday night.I guess the MGM it is then, I was leaning towards it initially, but the other ones are a god bit cheaper, so it got me thinking about them.

When you're talking about detroit, price is inversely proportional to how likely you are to be a victim.

^agreed. Windsor is nice especially when you compare it to Detroit. They have a lot to do there. I would recommend checking it out if you have the chance. It's only a short drive over the Ambassador Bridge.

I've been up there probably 20x in the last year for work.. fuck that place.Everybody I know that has moved down here from there is happy beyond words. It's a shithole that need to just be demolished (starting with the unions) and started over

Never been to the Detroit MGM, but really enjoyed staying in the one in Vegas.

Well, I booked my room at the MGM with the "grand player" package. Thanks for the input.

Some of the suburbs are ok. My wife is from Detroit and still has some family there, so we've been up there a few times over the years. I've spent a lot of time in Ferndale which is nice, but I wouldn't say there's anything that's a must see there. I've heard Greektown is pretty neat, and the food is really good there.

There are actually quite a few gorgeous buildings downtown. They are just interspersed with burned out, bum infested shanty's. Jut make sure you're not walking around alone, and downtown detroit can be pretty enjoyable.
