u know monoprice is also my favoritebut i ordered some 3.5mm audio cables and the first one i pulled out was crap (havent checked the others tho). it made a loud buzzing sound when i plugged it into anything...all other cables i've ordered from there have been fine though (including hdmi)

meritline, monoprice or bluejeanscable.com (I love bluejeans, but they aren't rock bottom cheap like the other two)

Cablestogo is another good vendor. I don't know if they have a website (Google can answer that) but they sell on Amazon.

you want oxygen free so that the copper crystals or whatever are like smooth and crap, not like jigawatts of copper crystals that mess up your hard drive rates and cause BSOD when the ram flashes.

monoprice is so low, its not even a question. i got a dvi to hdmi converter and a 30' hdmi cable for less than 20 bucks a little while back. try pricing that one at bestbuy.
3/31/2009 6:39:33 PM
The quality of cables from monoprice is extremely suspect though. I've had problems with several cables I've purchased there over the years. But for simple crap (short run hdmi/dvi/usb) it's by far the best deal. For any analog cable, and long run digital cables, I wouldn't recommend them.
3/31/2009 6:43:15 PM
^ I would agree with that, although I think the problem lies mostly in the connector not in the cable itself...Just spend ~10-20 bucks on a decent cable and be done with it. Remember, an HDMI cable is the same spec as your cat-5 ethernet cable.

I don't mean "it doesnt work", I mean the quality of the signal was visibly degraded. Like I said, for short run digital, it probably doesnt matter. But their component and audio cables suck balls compared to bluejeans

I saw an article/video from a reputable source once that said 3 feet cables, cheap or high dollar, will display about the same, and 6-12 feet cords, a mid-grade priced cable displayed the same as a high-dollar cable. I'll see if I can find this video. All this probably assumes that the cables had at least an acceptable level of craftsmanship.[Edited on March 31, 2009 at 7:51 PM. Reason : /]

ive watched movies on a 1080p 120" projector over a 30 foot monoprice HDMI cable.I am VERY critical when it comes to video and I did not seen any bit error problems. Unrelated but I'm so sensitive to compression artifacts I prefer the standard def analog tuner with the screen slightly out of focus. Enough converters and decoders in the line help blur out the hard edges >.<I'm still amazed how far we stepped back in picture quality to go forward with the light weight small space TV technology of today.[Edited on March 31, 2009 at 8:32 PM. oh man... seriously?next thing I know you're going to claim that an upconverted DVD looks the same as a blu-ray.
