So although it's highly improbable Kentucky could theoretically have a lineup of:

Wall
Meeks
Henry
Patterson
Cousins

Kentucky would rape Calipari's entire family if he failed to win a NC with this lineup.

Kentucky is ditching one dirtbag for another who just happens to not nail the co-eds?

Why is Calipari a dirtbag? His Umass crap was almost 15 years ago. He has been a pretty model coach since then. Giving Dajuan Wagner's dad that job might have been a little suspect. There is no way he is the only coach who does that though. I would love to have Calipari here at State.

Kentucky can pay him more than Memphis will ever be able to.

That is, if he thinks he can get away with whatever he's getting away with at Memphis at a higher profile program.

Eh, he was pretty much cleared of wrongdoing in that case, but they still played with an ineligible player which is why the Final 4 was vacated...

If UK hires Calipari, they also hire the most influential person in all of basketball in WWW. It'll be pretty much "Cal, which five do you want from this class" at that point...

Yeah this is a done deal. Apparently the players and the AD have all told Memphis news sources that they don't expect Calipari to be their head basketball coach by the end of the day. 6 years, $40 mil.

If that 6 years $40 million is correct that would easily make him the highest paid college coach out there. $6,666,666.67 per year is an insane yearly salary for a college basketball coach.

"I made him an offer he couldn't refuse"

god damn hearing about salaries like that makes me sick. He can recruit, no doubt, but jesus christ have you watched his teams play? When shit starts going wrong he has no clue. With that said, his teams are very good and he doesn't get in that position very often. We'll see if its because of a weak conference or maybe he's that good of a coach. No bullshit at kentucky.

Of course, I'd much rather lose recruits to Calipari at Kentucky than Calipari at Memphis....so thats a plus.

Another figure I just saw says that it might be 8 years $32 million, so $4 million per year, which still would make him one of if not the highest paid coach in college basketball. iirc he currently gets paid around $2.35 million at Memphis.

that makes no fucking sense at all, it doesn't matter what school we lose a recruit to (provided they aren't in the ACC), it matters that we lost a recruit. It might hurt more losing a recruit to an ACC school (or more specifically to UNC or Duke) since we have to play against them, but I couldn't care less if we lose recruits to Cal at Kentucky rather than Memphis since it makes no fucking difference.

What is he hoping to prove by getting video of Calipari leaving/entering his office? It's not like he's going to break any news to some random dude standing outside his office with a video camera.

^^apparently its a news crew that has it set up and running, they just gave a live news update.

said that memphis is currently in talks with missouri coach mike anderson about a deal. so it doesn't sound good for memphis fans.

he claims this is what he heard from "sources very close to the situation" lol.

he also said there is rumor of a press conference in lexington at 4pm. so i guess we will see for sure in a few minutes maybe?

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/story/11569528

Quote :
"Kentucky officials expect John Calipari to accept an offer to become their program's next basketball coach, a source close to the school told CBSSports.com on Monday. The source said UK believes it could introduce Calipari within the next 48 hours, that athletic director Mitch Barnhart is merely waiting for the "Yes" he believes is imminent, barring an unsuspected hang-up in the final stages of negotiations.

"It's close, but it's not quite done," one source on the Memphis side told CBSSports.com. "Kentucky is pretty sure it's done, but you know Cal, he could change his mind at the last minute."

A source said Calipari has the guidelines of the offer in place, and that "his people are reviewing it." The source said the offer would make Calipari the highest-paid college coach in America, though details remain sketchy. A separate source said the Memphis assistants are already touching base with recruits to make sure they'd jump to the SEC with them, and a different source said Memphis freshman Wesley Witherspoon would likely follow Calipari to Kentucky.

Assuming Calipari leaves, expect Memphis to target Missouri coach Mike Anderson or Southern California coach Tim Floyd.

An industry source said Anderson will listen.

Floyd's possible level of interest is unclear. "

Why would a coach at a major conference program (especially one that went to the tourney this year) leave for Memphis?

Welcome back to the shitter, Tigers.

P.S. When Sid eventually gets the boot, I want Mike Anderson.

I bet they could get him for cheap.
