I wrote for a small-town newspaper for a year. It is indeed a lot of good times.Very busy, and lots to write every day, but that's what you sign up for. If it paid more than working at Wendy's, I'd consider doing it again. But the pay sucks. Hard. So I probably won't.[Edited on March 27, 2009 at 8:42 AM. Reason : ]

my gf started her career at a small town paper. it was soul sucking and even back then 3 years ago she realized it was a dying medium.

I wrote for a small-town newspaper for about two years, and it was easily the most fun I've ever had while working. But like Thecycle23 said, the money just wasn't there. And the newspaper industry isn't exactly the model of stability right now. I still have a soft spot in my heart for the weekly papers, especially those that are still family owned and operated.
