Do any of you guys have some scraps, or know where a good place to get some would be? I called a couple car audio places and they just had it for sale. I'm only after about 50 square inches. A long thin strip would be ideal but I can work with whatever you got.

You can get basically the same thing at Lowes for around $12, it's in the roofing section.

actually, asphalt based stuff sucks.
It is nowhere near the same in how it performs or how long it lasts

I want to use something integrated into the foam core of my LDP skateboards to reduce vibration and resonant noise. Wood cores soak up a lot of that but with this type of board weight savings are nice, and wood stringers don't reduce vibration enough. At first I did not realize that dynamat was so thin... I had been thinking that strips would be most effective bridging the top and bottom skins but I don't want to do multiple layers to get a 'stick' and I have tried some thin vertical butyl strips with limited success already. I'm thinking about going the asphalt route. Since it is encapsulated inside the deck its not going to come off, and I doubt it will change chemical states any time soon.
