Finally got my mini9 today and immediately loaded OSX on it.I am shocked how awesome OSX runs on this little bastard. I can def. see me getting a ton of use out of this thing. Hell, it only cost $250, while that isn't cheap, it's far cheaper than my macbook and I am therefore more apt to take this thing to places I wouldn't take the MB. Anyway, I love it.

I did the same thing with my MSI Wind...OSX works great but I get crap for battery life.

I'm getting about 2.5 to 3 hrs battery life on mine.

OSX on the mini9 is flying. It is just as fast as my last gen mac mini. Honestly, it feels far more speedy than the XP installation was. I haven't even upgraded the RAM yet (stick should be here tomorrow to bump it to 2GB).It takes less than 40 seconds to totally boot into OSX. If you want to put OSX on yours, go to http://www.mydellmini.com and check out the OSX forum. Tons of support in there. It was dead easy though.

that's pretty damn awesome.

Have you tried Windows 7 on it?
3/15/2009 1:40:47 PM
I haven't put win7 on it, but there are people that are loading it and I guess it works fine. Put iLife and iWork on this afternoon, still screaming along. I have had no issues with running several programs at once either. Really the only thing that I have noticed is that the r/w speeds on the ssd aren't exactly crazy, so installing programs isn't the fastest thing ever. Not bad, but not great. But once they are installed, everything is great.

When did you order? I ordered on the 1st and its still in production.

I actually bought a refurb. Ordered Tuesday morning, showed up Saturday at lunch.1gb ram/16gb ssd hdd/1.3MP webcam/bluetooth/red case was $250 shipped. tack on an extra $25 for a 2gb stick of ram. Def. not bad for this machine.

Where did you get the refurb at that price? If you had a good experience, which it seems like you did, can you post or PM me the name of the place?

he probably used Dell.com/outlet
3/21/2009 11:33:35 AM
yeah, dell outlet. piece of advice. search throughout the day to find what you want. they update stock all the time and you can find some good deals if you are patient. If you plan to put OSX on it, try hard to get at least a 16gb ssd.

Mine should be arriving on Tuesday. I think I'm gonna keep the ubuntu, might put W7 on it though.
