Let me count the ways1. Better Venue, Consistent VenueMSG every year vs Atlanta, Greensboro, Charlotte, DC, Tampa etc2. Better TeamsLouisville, Pitt, Georgetown, UConn, Villanova, Syracuse, and Notre Dame all resonate on a National LevelThe ACC, despite what you may think, is still nationally thought of as UNC, Duke and the Retard Crew3. Better CoachesBoeheim, Pitino, Calhoun are legends...Jay Wright and Jamie Dixon are two of the hottest young coaches in the countryK and Roy are great...Gary Williams is a distant 3rd...but the rest of the coaches are a who's who of inexperienced Uncle Tom's I could go on, but those are the main 3 reasons IMONow I'm not the biggest fan of the new concept this year where all 16 teams make the tournamentBut by and large, its clearly better in almost every other way

3/12/2009 4:32:08 PM
also id rather have all games on one of the ESPNs
3/12/2009 4:32:22 PM
Boeheim has a one hot team every 17 year averageHe's just as much of a legend as Gary Williams
3/12/2009 4:32:46 PM
well of course it is better. but not being a fan of a big east team is the one problemo. still awesome basketball to watch, though.

3/12/2009 4:33:36 PM
Not in Chicago or Houston or Oakland or Vegas or NY or Washington, etcI travel a lot and make it a point to check out at least one sports bar in every townand thats the vibe I get
3/12/2009 4:35:15 PM
My friends Jeff Sagarin and Ken Pomeroy don't give a fuck about your anecdotal trips to the bar.
3/12/2009 4:36:13 PM
i'll give you calhoun and pitino, but i'm kinda underwhelmed with wright and boeheim. boeheim's teams are typically marginal to decent, with his championship run as the outlier. i'm pretty sure they weren't even ranked that year until march.wright strikes me as kinda the same way, with typically decent teams and the occasional pretty good team
3/12/2009 4:36:45 PM
lol does the MSG announcer really read the score after every play?this sounds like an MTV rock-n-jock environment
3/12/2009 4:36:54 PM
I agree with this... but its from the quarterfinals on... the first two days suck because it's so big.^ it's the same announcer who does Knicks games... he's always done that.
3/12/2009 4:38:43 PM
ive never been to a knicks game or ever paid attention to itbut any other game ive been to anywhere else they dont do that after every play
3/12/2009 4:39:40 PM
go wvu

That, uh, computer screen knows a lot more about college basketball than some jerkoff at a bar in Vegashttp://www.brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=386213[Edited on March 12, 2009 at 4:41 PM. Reason : ]

Nobody wants to see South Florida and St. Johns play any additional gamesThe Big East is diluting their product by including everyone
3/12/2009 4:42:50 PM
3/12/2009 4:43:20 PM
i would think popular opinion would win here over the computer stuff
3/12/2009 4:44:10 PM
3/12/2009 4:44:53 PM
It's not really trolling. It's being objective.I'm a huge Big East fan but I ain't sitting here deluding myself in to thinking it was a great football conference this year.In general, ACC fans will KILL the Big East and Big East fans will KILL the ACC... in all respects. Fans of the two conferences just hate the other.----I'm going to use this as my Big East tourney thread. What the fuck was McNeal thinking there? He's supposed to be one of the top defenders in the country and he pulled a Dennis Horner (defined as being completely out of posititon as your defender gets free and scores a big bucket).
3/12/2009 4:45:31 PM
Wow, I'm kind of a hypocriteJust spend the last 20 mins making and defending this thread and ended up missing the end of the game in the very tournament I was defendingLol and at the same time
3/12/2009 4:47:12 PM
postin on ur daym cayll phawn are u
3/12/2009 4:47:54 PM
no on the computerTheres a TV right here but the hicks flipped it the the SEC tourney (One we can ALL agree sucks) when i wasn't looking and I forgot to flip it back
3/12/2009 4:49:16 PM
the "Lol" reminds me of when i try to type that on my phone
3/12/2009 4:49:36 PM
why would Chicago or Houston or Oakland or Vegas care about the Big East OR ACC tourneys? I'd think they'd care more about the Big Ten or Big 12 or Pac-10 or Mountain West tourneys
3/12/2009 5:11:16 PM

I don't disagree that a conference tournament isn't going to be as big outside of the region, but I'm also pretty sure the ACC and Big East tourneys, or Big East and ACC tourneys, are probably the top 2 nationally
3/12/2009 5:17:46 PM
why would Chicago or Houston or Oakland or Vegas care about the Big East OR ACC any tourneys?[Edited on March 12, 2009 at 5:22 PM. Reason : a]

I would argue Bob Huggins should be on that list of legendary Big East coaches. He ranks 8th all-time in winning percentage and seventh in victories among active D1 coaches.Having gone to both an ACC and a Big East school, I would say the Big East is the better conference and has the better tourney this year. The amount of talent in the Big East right now is just insane.GO EERS
3/12/2009 5:30:00 PM
Notre Dame basketball resonates nationally about as well as Florida State basketball
3/12/2009 6:00:31 PM
well hell having gone to an ACC school and not paid any attention ever to the Big East, I would say the Big East is the better conference this year.
3/12/2009 6:08:40 PM
If it were as 12-to-12 comparison, I'd give the nod to the Big East. But having teams like South Florida, DePaul, Rutgers and St. John's make up the bottom of the conference hurts in my opinion. Top-to-bottom, I'd say the ACC is the better conference.Either way, it's a close comparison and you can't get away saying that the ACC is "UNC, Duke, and the Retard Crew."
3/12/2009 6:15:42 PM
Lets Go. Mountaineers.lol, that's the only way UConn wins the tourney is to NOT play Pittsburgh.
3/12/2009 8:17:48 PM
If Louisville gets a 1 seed it will be a travesty, they have by far the easiest big east schedule. I think the best bet for the big east is to divide the conference into 2 leagues, an A league and a B league, where in the bottom 3 teams from league A get relegated to league B and the top 3 from B get promoted to A. League A will have a conference tournament featuring all 8 teams at the end of each season, while B will give its bid to the regular season champ its league much like the ivy league.

3/12/2009 11:41:56 PM

3/12/2009 11:43:06 PM
damn, that was literally 1 frame from being good.of course the clock started about 3 tenths late so, probably would have been overruled anyway[Edited on March 12, 2009 at 11:45 PM. Reason : .]
