so i have tried everything under the sunI am running a dell inspiron 1525 with windows xp and a dell wlan wireless network i can connect in public places as well as here at home with no problem, everhowever, i try to connect to the wireless at work and get a "cannot connect to network" message even though I have 5 bars of signal. I go to troubleshooting and it says that it is possible I am not in range, although like I said before I have full signal strength. I have also tried to manually configure the IP, DNS, subnet mask, etc and still no luck.I have searched several message boards to no avail.Do you tech wizards have any advice or things I could possibly try?

what sort of security do the wifi networks in your office employ?a lot of corporate environments use WPA w/ 802.1x/a RADIUS server/PEAP/LEAP/etcif you don't have your handshake parameters set up correctly, the connection will never actually connect although you have full signal strength. this would cause the exact problems you stated above.ask your IT admins for the settings. if you have a need to have access to the network, i'm sure they'll help you out.]

yeah, we are a small office, so no IT guyi was connected on monday without a problem.now its like it isnt really trying to connect, it takes about 2-3 seconds to get that message to pop up. I never get a chance to put in my encryption key either.

ah, well then.try deleting the zeroconfig profile that was created when you first joined that network and then join it again
