Since you spelled it Briar I was surprised to see you spelled it brake and not break.

I do side work, and I'm only a couple of miles from Brier Creek...Between Page Rd and Miami Blvd, just off of hwy 70.

zxappeal or westgate.

Yeah, I'd recommend ZXAppeal. He and Jeepman tag teamed a bunch of maintenance work (timing belt, tensioners, pulleys, cam seals, accessory belts, etc.) on my 4Runner when I first bought it.

Thanks, A...looks like I might be open for bidness this weekend, but the time slots are quickly filling up. Gotta get in touch with greeches and tweak on his Scooby if I can. And have an '89 Celica GT to do some suspension and bodywork on.Tell me what ya got, folks, and we'll see if I can weasel it in.

^^ I'ma have to get you to do some more work on the 4Runner soon. I think it needs shocks, but I haven't had a chance to crawl under it yet. It's making a clunking sound going over bumps or if you stand on the bumper and bounce it. I also spotted some oil on the inside of the left rear wheel. It's not losing brake fluid, so maybe a bearing or something? Haven't had a chance to look up close yet.[Edited on March 5, 2009 at 12:11 PM. Reason : l]

That's the rear axle seal, most likely, if it's not a wheel cylinder leaking brake fluid. If you wipe your finger through it and smell it...well, axle lube/gear oil usually smells like it's got sulfur in it...because it does.Brake fluid is just a fucked up smell, and will usually wash fairly clean with water. It will also make the paint on your brake backing plate and anything it touches bubble up and peel off, just like paint remover.
