Looks like this is going to be finalized here in the upcoming days. Seems like it will be a neutral site (too bad it's not at Neyland because that would be a neat trip for people who haven't seen a game there). I'm guessing it will be either 2010 or 2012?Whatever the case, good snag for NCSU, Fowler.

sweet, I heard rumors that we did set this up, then I heard rumors that the home/home series got messed upgood to know that something official is going to come outI wish we'd set up another home/home with ohio state [Edited on February 26, 2009 at 2:38 PM. Reason : as]

hopefully State wont bitch out this time... neutral site??? like where?? Charlotte? Atlanta maybe? that opening game thing that Bama/Clemson did?
2/26/2009 2:57:07 PM
I hate Tennessee, and I hope wherever it is it is somewhere I can watch NCSU deliver a whooping.
2/26/2009 2:59:41 PM
I would love to play a game at tennessee. bet that would be an awesome atmosphere.
2/26/2009 3:02:13 PM
Charlotte would seem to be the logical neutral site, if they go that route. There are plenty of Tennessee fans in Western NC, and Charlotte is the only stadium of any size between the Triangle and Knoxville.
2/26/2009 3:03:21 PM
Well, I'm assuming it will be like the Bama/Clemson game, which would make it the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic Game in Atlanta, right?[Edited on February 26, 2009 at 3:05 PM. Reason : .]
2/26/2009 3:05:29 PM
Why are they talking about doing it a neutral site?
2/26/2009 3:07:01 PM
A neutral site makes no fucking sense. Nobody gives enough shit about us to put us at a neutral game site with Tennessee.
2/26/2009 3:09:18 PM
^unless some promoter thought he'd cash in by counting on us bringing a boatload of fans for a huge nonconference game.
2/26/2009 3:35:39 PM
2/26/2009 3:36:31 PM
yeah a home and home series makes sense..and hell yeah we need to do another home and home series with Ohio State sometime before Russell Wilson graduates! Those bitches got away with one the last time they were in Carter Finley!! grrrr
2/26/2009 3:39:14 PM
^^ They know I am in Atlanta
2/26/2009 3:41:28 PM
2/26/2009 3:42:31 PM
great weather for that game!
2/26/2009 3:42:59 PM
Yeah, my Blazer got stuck in the mud in the fairgrounds lot and I had to sit on the damn hill for the most boring football game everGood times
2/26/2009 3:45:17 PM
2/26/2009 3:50:19 PM
Is Chick-fil-A sponsoring this game?
2/26/2009 3:51:10 PM
I'm not sure, but if it's on a neutral field and it's a season opening game, I could make a guess that it would be their College Kickoff game. And if that's the case, that would make it the Chick-Fil-A College Kickoff. And from there, I would assume Atlanta. Plenty of assumptions, but it all makes sense.
2/26/2009 3:57:43 PM
Couldn't it also be another ESPN Thursday night opener like the two SC games areThat would be pretty cool to open the season in Charlotte vs TennesseeI would let Jaybee sleep on my couch
2/26/2009 3:59:24 PM
I didn't know that Carolina has a home and away with Tennessee in 2011/12
2/26/2009 4:02:40 PM
Neutral Site games SUCK!!I want to either go to Neyland or have all those snobby vol fags come to CARTER FINLEY

I want to go to Neyland Stadium. I've actually got a hook-up...so this can happen.Fuck a neutral site.
2/26/2009 9:01:07 PM
hook up eh?
2/26/2009 9:31:01 PM
We were talking at work about the insanity that would be an ACC vs. SEC doubleheader in football held at Bristol Motor Speedway (they have been trying to organize a single game of UT vs. VT). 150k-180k fans for 8 hours of southern fried football. People would probably die, but it would be worth it.
2/26/2009 10:17:09 PM
Unfortunately Bristol Motor Speedway has place a huge scoreboard in the middle of the infield. They'd have to remove that in order to play a game there which would be costly. But yeah, to say that something like that would be awesome would be an understatement. They could probably even build some temporary stands on the track.
2/26/2009 10:55:33 PM
I would love to go to a season opener football game at Bristol. Tailgating would commence a week in advance, and every seat in the place has a good view.Shit, leave the pole in the field. It would just make things more interesting.
2/28/2009 4:22:48 PM
I think tenn and VT were supposed to play a game at bristol a few years back, but then they put the pole in the infield so it never happened.
2/28/2009 7:40:05 PM
that's a pretty stupid fucking pole. completely eliminates the option of dual use
3/1/2009 10:41:32 AM
i say they just play around it. might give state a chance.
3/1/2009 12:57:25 PM
dual use? its a speedway. to play football there, the cost of removing that tower would be one of the cheaper upgrades needed.but that would suck to watch football there anyways, you would be so far away from the action
3/1/2009 1:57:30 PM
Why wouldn't they just play on one side of the stadium? It seems like there should be enough space on each side of the pole for a football field. That way the pole can stay and the fans could be somewhat closer to the field.
3/2/2009 11:53:03 AM
how about a double header going on at Talladega??2 games4 teamsHundres of thousands of fansA lot of beer
3/2/2009 3:26:31 PM
Here's an idea: how about having the football game at a football stadium? The field won't be 75 yards from the nearest fans and you won't have to worry about installing a field and removing a scoreboard.
3/2/2009 4:50:04 PM
^ that's some thinking outside the box action right there
3/2/2009 5:47:26 PM
3/2/2009 7:03:38 PM
"of any size"I don't see a UT-NCSU football game happening in front of 20K fans in Boone, or any of the smaller stadiums in Cullowhee or Asheville...
3/2/2009 8:05:07 PM
The whole point to it not being a football stadium is to fit ungodly amounts of people in there. Who gives a fuck if you can actually see the game? Half of our fans sitting at the 50 yard line in Carter-Finley are about 10 jack 'n cokes deep and can barely tell the difference between offense and defense as it is. We are talking about putting 150,000-200,000 ACC and SEC fans in one place for two great football games... its like Woodstock, you just need to be there. Hell, we could probably cram two fields into Bristol and play both games at the same damn time. We could definitely do that at Lowe's Motor Speedway. It would be pointless to do it in a football stadium because Neyland is already one of the largest in the world so you would always be settling for a smaller venue.
3/3/2009 1:40:48 AM
i haven't really read the thread, but do you people expect nc state to fill half of a 120k stadium in connecticut when our own stadium is rarely full to capacity at 60k?is that what's going on here?
3/3/2009 1:48:34 AM
leave it to state fans to want a football game played in the middle of a NASCAR track
3/3/2009 8:00:04 AM
set 'em up
