So much for scouring the federal budget line-by-line for "ineffective" programs, eh?
2/26/2009 11:26:09 AM
HE TOOK 'UR GUNS!
2/26/2009 12:04:35 PM
What was that about bipartisanship?Oh never mind, must have been my imagination.
2/26/2009 12:11:06 PM
..... what?
2/26/2009 12:23:43 PM
The constant enactment, reversal, and re-enactment of partisan legislation as the administration changes from republican to dem to repub back again does not rub we well.Like the funding for groups that spread information about abortion. Irrelevant of whether I like or dislike the legislation, I dislike the politicians for regularly undoing what the last one did.

The old assault weapons ban was on the short list of stupidest pieces of legislation that I've ever seen. Hopefully the Dems don't pass this.Or maybe hopefully they do, and then they pay a big political price for it.
2/26/2009 1:08:50 PM
^^ Yeah, it is what I remember hearing too. But this article is about Eric Holder, I haven't heard this from Obama's mouth (yet).

True.but that restriction was completely retarded. of all the dumb laws out there, we managed to get rid of one, and now they want to reinstate it? I thought this stupid issue was finally dead.
2/26/2009 2:04:26 PM
assault weapons =/= automatic weapons. how many times has this debate been had on here. I really hate Obama
2/26/2009 2:05:17 PM
Fuck Obama.
2/26/2009 2:06:10 PM
^^ who said anything about automatic weapons?^^^ yeah, "true". I mean, we wouldn't want the facts to get in the way of our partisan knee-jerk reactions, now would we?
2/26/2009 2:09:55 PM
2/26/2009 2:10:54 PM
oh, good. that's your guess. sounds reliable. well, like i said - let's not let the facts stand in the way of our partisan, knee-jerk reactions.
2/26/2009 2:13:56 PM
If he knew shit about guns and the effectiveness of the past ban, he would know its a worthless piece of legislation
2/26/2009 2:15:16 PM
he may know all about thisbut the fact remains that is feel-good legislation that will do nothing except get votes from people that dont know any betterit may be a good trump card for the mid term elections

^^ have I given or expressed an opinion on the topic, especially a partisan one? All I did was point out a fact based on the statement that was issued, which contradicted what a lot of people here were assuming. Given that, I agree with ^ that this is mostly a feel-good legislation.
2/26/2009 2:26:18 PM
I guess Im gonna buy another AR15 and some more p mags

^ yeah...for the moment. She most likely realizes it's not politically expedient right now.
2/26/2009 3:29:10 PM
it will be back, stock up on guns n ammo
2/26/2009 3:55:02 PM
just curious here..... what exactly are you planning on using your AR15s that you need a stockpile of ammo for?and don't get your panties in a wad - i'm not arguing your right to do so. just wondering why.[Edited on February 26, 2009 at 4:19 PM. Reason : .]

who cares? what do you plan on using your stack of baseball cards for?
2/26/2009 4:27:03 PM
i'm gonna throw them at the government when they come for me

i wasn't going to buy another gun... now i will buy an AR15
2/26/2009 4:31:24 PM
Keeping King George out of my living room.
2/26/2009 4:31:31 PM
so why would someone really need all these types of guns? dont say to protect yourself. hell you can do that with a glock 17i mean, are the zombies attacking?
2/26/2009 4:33:40 PM
2/26/2009 4:38:02 PM
some people like shooting gunsain't nothing wrong with that
2/26/2009 4:38:13 PM
i know, that's great. My immediate (liberal) family being some of those people. I'm specifically curious, though, as to why one must buy an AR15 in particular before they stop going on sale, if that actually happens.
2/26/2009 4:41:11 PM
people collect things all the time. some of you uber-nerds play WoW for hours on end. to answer your curiosity, weapons like that are fun to shoot. they are all much different in what they do, especially compared to more standard guns. if you are into weaponry, they appeal to different actions. some are loud, some are more powerful, some are extremely accurate at long range, etc...[Edited on February 26, 2009 at 4:42 PM. 2/26/2009 4:41:29 PM
so "for fun" is your best answer loland ive never played one minute of WOW.look, im from johnston county ... i love to shoot guns too. i go camping, hiking, fishing and i used to go hunting. i still dont see a problem with banning the sale of assault rifles. oh noes, you cant buy a gun that kill someone from 300 yards away...big deal]

You can argue over the semantics, but it was pretty clear Obama played a bunch of people in regards to gun control. Not really surprising. Not really sure why a lot of leftists think that the country wants everything they do. They keep this up, and they won't even stay in power 4 years.Though, I see Pelosi looks like she doesn't want to touch this right now, which is smart. All the Dems have to do is push the economy and not worry about this crap. Country wide, crime isn't really an issue, so it's going to be hard to convince many people that stricter gun laws are going to keep them safer, and it's going to rile up opposition for no clear reason. Funny thing is Pelosi is actually being moderate and centrist as opposed to Obama, for now at least. How often are "assault weapons" used in the committing of a crime? Find that answer and this issue because amazingly stupid.
2/26/2009 4:56:18 PM
In my opinion the restrictions and regulations on guns espicially assault weapons are strict enough. The liberals merely use guns as a scape goat to societies problems just like how the christian right likes to use drugs. Both sides misinterpreting a symptom as a cause.Nonetheless uncle sam not letting me buy a AK-47 is low on my priority list of activist issues compared to other rights Uncle Sam has been trampelling on. Some redneck at my work has a bumper sticker on his old truck "Fear a Gov't that fears your guns". My gun is of no use to fend of an oppresive gov't if they are wiretapping my phone calls .
2/26/2009 4:58:16 PM
The BS of the old assault weapon band was that you could still buy a brand new AR-15, it just wouldn't have a bayonet lug or flash hider and the stock would be fixed.Dangerous:Not Dangerous:
