Guess this could go in the offseason thread...but the combine should have its own thread.First...Andre Brown.Andre Brown really improved his stock. Ran a 4.49, while the top running backs didn't fare so well (Moreno with a 4.62 and Wells with a 4.59). On ESPN they talked about his adjusted speed (your weight combined with your 40-time), and he topped all running backs. He had 24 reps in the Bench Press (top 10) and a 37" vertical jump (top 5). McShay said Andre moved himself up into the 3rd round with his combine and Senior Bowl performance. Good job Andre.Wide Receivers were impressive. Heyward-Bey from Maryland killed the 40 (4.3) and had a top vertical jump (38.5"). Percy Harvin did well...Hakeem Nicks struggled a little bit (4.49 I believe). UNC's Brooks Foster did beast the bench press with 27 reps. Can't find any stats for Anthony Hill right now.

Anthony Hill ran a 4.81 i believe. I watched him run it live on NFL Network Saturday nighti'll double check that tho

^^ Good for Andre. It's a damn shame we had shitty offensive lines for most of his time here. I'm glad he is gonna get paid despite that though.

i thought a 4.49 for Nicks would be good? I remember reading alot of people knocking his speed, and while a 4.49 isn't GREAT.....its not slow, and speed isn't really his game anywaysedit: I don't like UNC or Nicks. I just thought that a 4.49 for him is a good #[Edited on February 23, 2009 at 9:33 AM. Reason : ...]

http://www.footballsfuture.com/2009/combine/sunday.html"It really seemed to be a perplexing with some odd names claiming bragging rights as this year’s fastest straight line backs. Cedric Peerman? Ian Johnson? Andre Brown? These were supposed to be the vision and power backs, so it’s safe to say they’ve all really boosted their stocks. The guy I like is Andre Brown whose low mileage and running style makes a great fit in the NFL."Player College Height Weight Arm Length Hand Length 40 Reps Vertical Andre Brown N.C. this is pretty cool...http://www.nfl.com/combine/workoutsvideo walkthrough of the tests and the position workouts.

Cowherd is going to go through all of the combine tests on his show soon including the Wonderlic. Should be interesting. I think it'd be cool to do that on my own to see what numbers I put up.

I don't care if Nicks ran a 5.49, if he can make that catch he did against WVU I would want him on my team.

I looked through the NFL.com site but didn't see Andre or Anthony on any videos, please post if you track any down.

Pat White led all QB's in 40 time and vertical
2/23/2009 2:44:27 PM
^Didn't surprise me. He's the most athletic qb in the draft.
2/23/2009 2:46:15 PM
you can do a practice wonderlic herehttp://espn.go.com/page2/s/closer/020228test.html
2/23/2009 3:07:42 PM
i'm assuming the actual test is much longer?
2/23/2009 3:14:40 PM
how many more problems could someone reasonably be expected to complete in 5 minutes?I set a timer and did it. Missed 11 and 13. But to be fair I didn't just get done running around an obstacle course or whatever they have to do before hand. [Edited on February 23, 2009 at 3:18 PM. Reason : df]
2/23/2009 3:15:54 PM
i mean i didn't know if they were allotted more than 5 minutes for a longer test or not.
2/23/2009 3:20:43 PM
oh I got you. sorry. yeah I believe the real one is 12 minutes and 50 questions. don't quote me on that though.
2/23/2009 3:24:24 PM
i missed one because apparently i can't multiply. (and i got the harder algebra ones). whatever.

Rich Eisen runs the 40. The simulcams are hilarious.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZb3DRt6_Gk

Posted by Aaron Wilson on March 26, 2009, 8:06 p.m.Speedy North Carolina State running back Andre Brown is scheduled to visit the San Diego Chargers, Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans, New England Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has also conducted a private workout with the Patriots. The 6'0, 224-pounder registered a hand-timed 4.37 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine with an official time of 4.47. “I’m hearing I could go in the second or third round,” Brown told us in a telephone interview. “My workouts and my performance at the Senior Bowl have really helped me a lot. … I’m an old-fashioned guy. I love Walter Payton, how hard he ran. I’m a big back that has speed. I’m an every-down type of back.”At the combine, Brown posted a 37-inch vertical leap and bench pressed 225 pounds 24 times. He was the fourth-fastest running back at the combine.A former Parade Magazine All-American in high school, Brown rushed for 2,403 career yards and 21 touchdowns, averaging 4.8 yards per carry. He has recovered from a broken left foot that hampered him in 2007 and 2008.http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/03/26/stock-rising-for-andre-brown/

it will be a shame if he's drafted by the pats & i'm forced to root against him
3/27/2009 12:45:26 PM
he'd be a great fit at the chargers. with LDT probably on his last legs, brown would be a good compliment for sproles as a long term two back solution.
