anybody know what are the easiest/most interesting from these courses for a BIT minor?

BIT 467 PCR and DNA Fingerprinting (2 cr)
BIT 468 Genome Mapping (2 cr)

i heard that 481 is a pretty solid course, not sure about the difficulty but this is coming from someone who has worked in the field for 20 years

I graduated just a few years ago and completed the BIT minor. I took BIT 465 (real-time PCR) and BIT 468 (genome mapping).

Both were very interesting and useful courses. I would especially recommend BIT 465 if it is still offered; real-time PCR is the current industry and academic standard technique for quick comparative gene expression. Understanding this technique WILL be a plus on a resume.

Genome mapping was cool. As an undergrad naive to research, it was fascinating getting to use a multi-hundred thousand dollar sequencer. Sequencing is also very important in today's biotech world.

I would say that you can't go wrong...all of these classes offer hands on learning experience for techniques that would ordinarily only be learned as a graduate student.

After having taken a graduate protein purification course, I would say that this topic is most interesting to those whose main interest and background is in chemistry.

I TAed Microarrays for 2 years. Dr. Ashwell does not believe in giving anything less than an A. You participation will determine what A you will get.
