This will be a "re-building" year, but IMO we will have more surprises than letdowns.
(last year was the opposite)

^^^^ although there is a strong similarity: both coaches left behind a horrible program/franchise in search of greener pastures. both wanted a new challenge -- to bring a huge school in a major power conference back to national respectability

yeah, its really hard to guess what will happen. It will definitely be a rebuilding year but i have no idea how fast that will occur and what impact it will have on W/L

09/05/09 vs. Western Kentucky - W
09/12/09 vs. UCLA - W
09/19/09 at Florida - L
09/26/09 vs. Ohio - W
10/03/09 vs. Auburn - L
10/10/09 vs. Georgia - L
10/24/09 at Alabama - L
10/31/09 vs. South Carolina - W
11/07/09 vs. Memphis - W
11/14/09 at Mississippi - L
11/21/09 vs. Vanderbilt - W
11/28/09 at Kentucky - W

7-5

Quote :
"Big names headline spring clinic

There has been plenty of talk about Tennessee's coaching staff or the all-star staff, as coveted 2010 quarterback prospect Jake Heaps referred to it this week. The first weekend of April, that all-star staff will have their first coaches clinic and it will feature another all-star.

In years past, high school coaches have gotten to hear coaches at the top of their profession like Norm Chow and Bill Cowher. This year, coaches will have a chance to hear Lane Kiffin, Monte Kiffin and the entire Tennessee coaching staff as they talk philosophy of coaching and managing a program. But the highlight of the weekend will be on Saturday morning as the Tennessee staff will welcome Super Bowl winning head coach Mike Tomlin to Knoxville as he will be the featured speaker at this year's coaching clinic.

The clinic will be April 2-4 and will feature a Saturday scrimmage as well.

Tomlin, who is 22-10 as a head coach and is 3-1 in the NFL playoffs including this year's dramatic Super Bowl win over the Arizona Cardinals for the Steelers' record sixth Lombardi Trophy, has obvious ties to Tennessee and the staff. Tomlin actually was an assistant coach for a short period at UT-Martin. From 2001-2005 Tomlin, who has earned everyone's respect as the youngest coach to win a Super Bowl, was at Tampa Bay as the defensive backs coach for Monte Kiffin.

Obviously you care because you took the time to respond to this thread. If you truly don't care just ignor these type of threads. It costs you nothing to NOT CLICK on a thread with a topic you don't care about.

I don't give a fuck about the NBA. Therefore, I don't post in NBA threads. You see how easy that is.

the logic of you people that log on to a message board specified to a certain school, and then proceed to talk about other schools will always be baffling to me. If you want to talk about Tennessee, go to a Tennessee message board. There you see how easy that is

You know they have forums on NBA and MLB sites too, you could heed your own advice and post there

BTW, there aren't many people on the UT message boards that have ties to both UT and NCSU

Here's a smiley face for you

yup... according to Vontool we cant have any super bowl threads, any braves threads, any threads about the Panthers, Redskins, Cowboys, Nascar, the NC game, Hurricanes etc.

and I love that he claims "no one cares" but someone REQUESTED that I make this thread... it wouldn't have been made at this point unless someone cared enough to ask me to make it

yeah, actually it's exactly the same.

tennessee is not nc states rival and i'm fairly certain they're not even in the same conference.

and the tennessee campus is only a little over an hour away from north carolina

how could someone have a problem with this if they don't hae a problem with a dallas cowboys thread?

In attempt to get this thread back on topic...

I have officially decided that I am going to Knoxville for the home opener on Sept. 5th.

I have been to Neyland many times, but I dont think it has ever been as crazy as it will be ushering in the new coaching staff and team.

just dont know if i wanna go ahead and fork out the 100ish per ticket or wait and try to scalp em. (ill be in the top deck anyways)

Student tickets FTW. Even though it's still an awesome deal considering I'm in grad school and don't spend every hour on campus, they charged $90 for season tickets last year (it's the first year students have been charged).

But yeah, I'll definitely be doing that again for the upcoming season.
