What brands do you prefer guys?? Banana Republic's slim dress shirts fit great but the neck is a little tightI've tried Calvin Klein and Claiborne slim shirts but they still kinda balloon out in the back......

ive always liked the express mx1 shirtbut brooks bros ftw also
2/16/2009 5:35:08 PM
mx1 shirts last a year maybe 2 topswhich i guess is fine since you can pick them up for $25and they're not bad for a 'modern' look but I won't be picking up any more.
2/16/2009 6:31:01 PM
H&M
2/16/2009 6:58:39 PM
I've got a really good Calvin Klein and Perry Ellis slim cut dress shirt that I got at the Myrtle Beach outlets for about $15 or $20 a pop.
2/16/2009 7:21:56 PM
i buy 1mx when they are on sale for $19.99 - dry cleaners are going to wreck a shirt in a year anyway so why pay more? thankfully they've sized up the neck although they need to make the shuolders, arms, and back bigger, but the taper is ok

Martin & Osa....has some pretty nice dress shirts, and they are rather slim cut
2/17/2009 1:17:48 AM
when is H&M actually going to sell online?
2/17/2009 1:24:21 AM
H&M is ok but they dont look like a proper suit shirt if youre in a stuffy environment. Joseph Banks has a tailored fit, wrinkle-free travelers shirt. You obviously pick you neck and sleeve size. They fit pretty well, look good when wearing a tie, last forever, always looking freshly ironed, etc. The only gripe is that theyre not the best shirt to wear without a tie. But, they do have a somewhat athletic cut. Banana republic fitted is nice. Gap has a 'premium' link that fits well. The right neck/sleeve fitted combo fits right except the shoulders are a little snug (Im 5'11 175 or so). Never tried the Express shirts but Ive heard good things

2/17/2009 9:09:57 AM
Gap premium fit FTW
2/17/2009 9:55:06 AM
Gap Premium Fit ftw. If you keep an eye open for sales they can be picked up for rather cheap. They account for at least 75% of the dress/button shirts I own.I have to get the tall size, but these are the only shirts I've ever found that fit me absolutely perfectly.
2/17/2009 10:19:09 AM
Get a good tailor FTW.
2/17/2009 11:02:03 AM
I've been rocking 1mx dress shirts from Express for about 6-7 years now...Still have some that are about 5-6 years old that still look fairly decent. I probably have about 30 of these shirts in all.I will say that for office use, they usually dont last more than 3 years or so before looking too worn.[Edited on February 17, 2009 at 11:09 AM. Never had a problem with MX-1 Shirts, then again I only wear them when I go out so they get a lot less wear and tear
2/17/2009 2:21:40 PM
what kind of look are you going for?if you're worried about this
2/18/2009 12:28:37 PM
JESUS CHRIST----yall obviously have the worst Mother fucking fashion mindset i have ever heard of in my life. dress shirt –noun 1. a man's shirt worn for formal or semiformal evening dress, usually having French cuffs and a stiff or pleated front to be fastened with studs. 2. a man's shirt, buttoning down the front and typically having long sleeves with barrel or French cuffs, and a soft or starched collar, worn with a necktie. Where the fuck does Gap, Banana Republic, and American Eagle even come into that equation. Jesus- Grab some style and go to teh following for nice dress clothing: -Charles Tyrwitt -Brooks Brothers -Hugo Boss-Ralph Lauren-H&MAnd I am only picking these stores out because they are in Raleigh and affordable...don't even let me whip out the Breioni, Armani, Ermes, etc stuff on ya that yall bitches cant afford. Jos A Banks is for old men Liz Claiborne is halfway decent Jesus christ...why don't yall all just go in a camo suit to an interview.
2/18/2009 2:14:55 PM
I can understand gap and american eagle not fitting in, their shirts are sold to be wrinkly on purpose.Banana Republic does have a decent selection of dress shirts that are around the same price point as Brooks Brothers or cheaper. A lot of shirts with french cuffs, even pleated front of "tux" shirts.
2/18/2009 2:21:05 PM
Banana republic is such shitty quality. Go to the following website to get a sense of a good style for a reasonable price.http://www.ctshirts.co.uk/ Banana Republic is owned by a clothing megastore - GAP... so its basically the same shitty clothing. You can tell when someone is wearing quality versus processed crap.
2/18/2009 2:26:37 PM
I'm just saying its better than Gap and American Eagle. I'm well aware that Gap and BR are owned by the same corporation, but that doesn't mean the quality or construction is the same. If they were, there'd be no use for a separate brand. [Edited on February 18, 2009 at 2:36 PM. Reason : .]

OH SNAP!Bodog fashion school is in session.
2/18/2009 6:16:49 PM
Yeah, I'm totally going to take advice from him.
2/18/2009 6:31:53 PM
not a fan of express shirts... have a few that i like, but generally overpriced and ugly imo.for slim dress shirts:zarah&m (though the fabric is cheap)united colors of benetton (my fav, but only have a few shirts that i really like, still they are the best fitting and highest quality of the ones i buy)cK are good but dont fit mebanana are okay, just not my stylehugo boss are too expensivedont know if half of those are in nc... i live in dc area.
2/18/2009 6:37:04 PM

I like the Arrow fitted shirts at Kohls. I'm a skinny dude and they fit very well.

Brooks BrothersHart Schaffner Marxand don't you kids know shit? you don't take your shirts to a dry cleaner. wash them shits at home and learn how to operate an fucking iron. quality shirts are meant to last a lifetime, and will if you TAKE CARE OF THEM. dipping them in dry cleaning solution is NOT how you keep a shirt.
2/19/2009 12:27:17 AM
the brothers brooks ftw
2/19/2009 12:37:35 AM
^^thats what i'm sayinggentle cycle FTW
2/19/2009 1:49:53 AM
Obviously guys who keep insisting on Brooks Brothers have not read the original post. If he thinks that claiborne and calvin aren't slim enough for his tastes, then Brooks Brothers are not the right fit.
2/19/2009 12:24:29 PM
^ brooks brothers ftw

Perry Ellis and Alfani

"Who is this Bodog trying to lay down the fashion law" Look at it this way...im a person that knows fashion. I live in NYC and used to dress like a slob. But if you want to dress well, look more intelligent, get hotter girls then you need to get your head out of your ass and stop buying such crappy clothing. Why is Banana Republic so popular? Because its the best thing in Raleigh besides BBs. So you don't have many choices. The more you dress European the better you will look. The more slim fitting clothing you were the better you look. Banana republic shirts make you look like your wearing a kite. Whomever said Zara is completely correct...great store for the$$$So if you need dress clothing DO NOT GOING TO THE FOLLOWING: AMerican Eagle Banana RepublicGap S&WMens WearhouseJos A Banks GO TO: Zara BreioniHermes Charles TyrwittThomas PINKKenneth Cole HUgo BOss Armani Dunhill Theory (mens)Get your ass out of walmart for clothing too...
2/19/2009 8:20:21 PM
Oh another thingBUY THE FOLLOWING: Pocket squares Metal Collar stays Nice cufflinks - those cloth ones are bullshit (they need to be from metal)suits should have the following - working button holes -dual vent -hand stiching on the collar nice belts...that 8th grade brown belt you have that is twead throw it away solid collar sweaters....SAY NO TO ARGILE unless your gay ALL YOU REALLY NEED ARE WHITE DRESS SHIRTS AND SKINNY TIES JUST GO BUY A NICE SUIT AND YOU CAN ALWAYS ROCK A WHITE BUTTON DOWN -but get a good thread count on teh shirt STOP BEING CHEAT FUCKS RALIEHG MEN
2/19/2009 8:22:55 PM
Brooks Brothers Outlet ftw.Banana Republic = Gap, and the Gap kinda sucks, quality-wise.And if you need it super-duper slim, then just get it altered. It's like $8/shirt.[Edited on February 19, 2009 at 8:29 PM. Reason : ]

2/19/2009 10:36:32 PM
haha Officer Bodog of the Fashion Police layin down the law!also, what you bitches know about rocking the bow tie? always adds a bit of southern class to a good dress shirt. i just wish they weren't $50 each at Jos A Banks or BB (only places in Raleigh I know of that sell any)
2/19/2009 11:12:06 PM
2/19/2009 11:17:12 PM
Doubledown- ok im not saying to go extreme...im saying that european tailoring on suits are more slim fitting and have a better optical fit. THINK ABOUT HOW BOND LOOKS IN HIS SUIT...i can promise you he didn't go to a department store for that. As for the bowtie....AAAAHHHHHH BOWTIES ARE GAY. "Oh but girls like them" AHHHH NOOBOWTIES ARE CUTE....TIES ARE SEXY....get it right. The reason i am laying down the law is because i lived in NC for 22 years and I witnessed how people dressed including my old bad tastes in fashion. UNtucked everything, horrible stripes, plades, whatever... yall don't get it.
2/19/2009 11:33:21 PM
Also- I was saying that slim fit clothes make you look better. Im not telling you to buy someting that is going to constrict your movements or make you look like your wearing spandex. Im saying to wear something that won't have much/to any excess material flapping around. GO thru your closets and just throw that shit out. Then when you realize that your a pathetic individual when it comes to in style fashion, you will start to see the importance of looking good. Just wait till you walk around corporate america and realize how you look like a poor person. OH AND GET A NICE WATCH...something that doesn't require batteries
2/19/2009 11:35:32 PM
because everybody has a james bond build. I mean I get what you're saying and you're right, a european cut on a suit does look good, if you can pull it off. Otherwise, you just need to make sure it fits well. Sometimes that means not trying to squeeze your ass into a slim cut 42R just because its "your size"oh and bowties are good for one thing only. Black/white tie events.otherwise, put that shit away.[Edited on February 19, 2009 at 11:42 PM. Reason : b]
2/19/2009 11:37:41 PM
lol @ worrying about fashion in the srz bizness mode that some people do, and I never wear watches, I can't stand them. I do however wear slim cut dress shirts. I have a hard time finding shirts sometimes that fit me well so I'll have to try a few of the places listed in here that I haven't been to before. I have a small waist and a decently wide back and big chest for my waist size so I have a hard time finding shirts that dont require the fiance tailoring them some :/[Edited on February 19, 2009 at 11:42 PM.
