needed an upgrade bad..

i currently run a friends pentium D 930 setup with 6gb of ram oc to about 3.6

hopefully ill see a little boost in performance..

got a new mb, i7 920, 6gb 1333, purepower supply

mobo is the msi x58 pro...its a cheap mb, but it has some awesome specs...just came out so not many reviews...hope i didnt make a mistake..we'll see.
core i7 920 is 2.66...but i have seen several at over 4ghz and running well.
i messed up when buying the ram and ordered 4gb...not realizing that the x58 uses 3 stick config..

i just wanted a new comp bad, and the price difference between this and a q9550 setup was not too big...and the new technology will at least be usable for a few years...the core 2 platform is not gonna hang around long..

dont overclock out of the box, let it run a few days at stock... jsut a little advice on your 4ghz statement

yeah, i dont intend to oc it anytime soon....my purchse of a thermaltake purepower 500w is gonna keep me back for sure..i just found out that it has some lower voltages than normal for a 500w...hopefully its enough to run the system stock with a 4830 gpu..
