*He sees the truth. It's written all over our faces.Anyone else watching this?I'm hoping watching this will give me a better understanding of facial expressions.

my wife and i love this show - haven't missed one yet - great writing
2/4/2009 10:15:27 PM
Same here, kinda upset it won't be on next week.
2/4/2009 10:22:35 PM
Yep, saw the previews for this and wanted to see it.Hopefully it gets enough attention to warrant more seasons.
2/4/2009 10:23:23 PM
I really enjoy this show too so far; but their interpretation of the law in tonight's episode was incorrect. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but as a law student it really stood out to me.
2/4/2009 10:29:27 PM
missed it tonight, but i've loved the show so far
2/4/2009 10:58:14 PM

Enjoying this show so far - haven't watched tonight's episode yet (on the DVR list though)
2/5/2009 1:41:39 AM
The previews for it look horrendous.
2/5/2009 2:37:54 AM
I watched the season premiere and thought it sucked ass.
2/5/2009 6:45:55 AM
I watched a few episodes just because I'd seen the commercials a million times and there was nothing else on during that timeslot.Luckily Life is back, because Lie To Me is terrible.[Edited on February 5, 2009 at 8:03 AM. Reason : .]
2/5/2009 8:02:52 AM
it's like house for liars. everybody lies.
2/5/2009 9:04:02 AM
it intresting how there a lot of crime shows on now that solve the case by soft sciences vs the hard science (csi type) of showsshows: Lie to MeMentalistPsychCriminal Minds
2/5/2009 9:46:44 AM
they really push the premise down your throat and harp on 3-4 specific expressions a lot (wrinkles on forehead anyone?). that said, it is still an enjoyable watch.
2/5/2009 10:19:31 AM
and eyebrows.or chin thrusts.hey, he just thrust his chin out AGAIN, he's angry.
2/5/2009 11:32:29 AM
cant belive they did the thing with priness Diana and Michelle Obama
2/5/2009 1:22:08 PM
^^ the good thing though is you can play along.last night, for instance, i was like, "hey that judge's forehead is flat as shit. i bet they call her a lying bitch for that." I SHOULD GET THIS JOB!!!
2/5/2009 6:38:22 PM
Can you really read people's intentions based on minute facial features? I'm guessing it's total bullshit, but does this show have any grounding in reality?
2/5/2009 7:44:19 PM
It's bullshit, mostly. The entire show is designed to make women think they have some sort of superpower just because they look people in the eyes. It's like Murder She Wrote with a milf version of Angela Lansbury.Nothing against Angela, of course.
2/5/2009 8:11:23 PM
i enjoy it.
2/5/2009 8:21:05 PM
just watched the first episode, and really enjoyed it. The two stories were better than the usual crime show dramas, especially the murder one - it had me confused (or not knowing who it really was) until the end
2/5/2009 9:53:16 PM
thats cuz you dont have the magic power agentlion. ive watched like 3 now. i know who it is from the first 5 minutes because i read the actors faces (THEY KNOW WHO IT WAS).

the main character is based on a real person, Paul Ekman. Also like they point out on the show, the expression have to be put in context to alow to know if they are actually lying or its something else. case in point...they explain why polygraphs are unreliablehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Ekman
2/6/2009 9:10:21 AM
still liking this show. I like how they bring in pictures of known liars and celebrities.
2/11/2009 11:04:45 PM
anybody else still watching?I think i'm mostly enjoying it because it makes me feel smart because I catch all the cues and stuff before any of the characters say anything
3/5/2009 10:21:28 PM
I'm still watching, but I'm not really sure why. I don't think it's very good.I think the reason you gave for liking it is one of the biggest things I dislike about it. I feel like as long as you pay just a little bit of attention, you can figure out everything. And instead of making me feel smart it makes me think "what's the big deal? anyone can do this shit".

I hate how in every drama now the hero has to have some sort of mental superpower.Lie To Me: Super Polygraph Power!House: Super Unorthodox Medicine Power!Bones: Super Anatomy Knowledge Power!Mentalist: Super Memory Power! The Closer: Super Interrogation Power!etc.[Edited on March 6, 2009 at 2:01 AM. ^don't forget The Cleaner: Super Intervention Power!
3/6/2009 2:40:38 AM
^^ if you want to watch normal people doing normal jobs watch Airline or something.
3/6/2009 8:12:45 AM
I would rather watch normal people doing extraordinary jobs.People who make mistakes occasionally, and don't know everything about their given field.
3/6/2009 8:28:21 AM
I watch this show on hulu at work.it's entertaining enough to kill my boredom.

I love this show...
3/6/2009 10:36:30 AM
I like this show. I want to know what the girl's husband is lying about.
3/6/2009 12:34:28 PM
^^he is having an affair
3/6/2009 4:42:58 PM
nah, that's too easy. He has another kid that she doesn't know about, or something. Even that seems too plausible. It has to be something off-the-wall.... he's a hit-man for the mob, or he's under investigation for something and has to give depositions or something
3/6/2009 4:46:08 PM
I can't wait for someone on the show to chew gum and throw them all off.
3/7/2009 10:38:36 PM

I like how there is always two stories going on.Just watched last nights episode and it was really good
3/19/2009 12:57:35 PM
I think it is more than an affair too--he seems a little too anxious sometimes.
3/19/2009 3:12:41 PM
^Yeah, and the girl only kissed him on the cheek...didn't seem like a hugely romantic gesture that they usually do in other shows to imitate an affair. interesting...
3/19/2009 3:26:29 PM
yeah, that was a good episode. Both plotlines were good. It's nice to see Lightman's personal feelings getting in the way of his investigation. and it's also good to see him investigating his partner's husband. I agree it's not an affair. But I also don't think it's something as obvious as his secret daughter.
