Need someone to flash the firmware on my Xbox 360 disc drive. It's a BenQ. This is a pretty straightforward process, I'd do it myself if the HDD on my desktop weren't dead. I'd prefer someone with previous experience. Thanks.-kr

Come on Tdub, all these CS/CE majors and l33t h4xors and there's no one available to pick up some quick cash for this quick and simple procedure?

you really don't even need your hdd you can set up the flashdrive on a seperate computer then just boot with it on your PC and have the 360 connected to the SATA. some older guides make you actually put in the address for your SATA chipset/serial number or whatever but it isn't really needed anymore since the newer flashing utilities will just search all of them for your drive.

This is indeed relevant to my interests.

bought a new hdd, did the mod myself, now for the 'back up' games. I can copy discs and burn the files others have ripped, just don't have a decent source for downloading the games. I'm leaning towards dropping the $35 and joining everything4360.com Any recommendations or experiences? (I know the chances of getting anything other than flamed from this post are pretty slim, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway.

i was going to post also saying that it isn't too cost effective to flash it unless you play like, every game that gets released. i don't know anything about everything4360.com but since it seems like it can be joined by anyone seems it could have a lot of shitheads that don't upload and get shut down at anytime, but it does seem to be the cheaper option. i personally use newsgroups to get my games and it costs 11/mo but I also use it to download HD shows/moviesyou also need to consider that a lot of groups put out shit releases that can get you banned unless they're checked and match retail info. you can compare image files to the abgx database using a program called abgx GUI

Patching is very cost effective. I've got <$20 tied up in the hardware I had to purchase to soft-mod my xbox (obviously not counting the hard drive that died, but that's an unrelated issue) and with the sites I ran across late last night, I'm never going to pay for a game again...that is unless you count the $1.13 for a dual layer DVD. As for the xbox live issue, if you properly stealth patch the DVDs, you won't be detected.Everything4360.com is shit, it basically just directs you to torrent links with mediocore download speeds. I'm downloading from a centralized server based in the EU, average speeds of around 700KB/sec, which equates to a full game disc in around 3 hours, give or take. I won't say there aren't some drawbacks, but I'm loving this system so far.
