Anyone got one i can borrow? Should I just use a vice and a file? Does it really matter? If arghx was not a deltoider I would have PM'd him.

You really should use a ring file. Best to keep the ends as square as possible...you could either use a bona fide ring file or ring gapper or a special jig to hold the ring flat and file the ends truly normal or perpendicular to the ring face.If you're going to go to the length of getting oversize rings made for gapping and waste the time to do so, you need to do it right.

did you order that one? if not, i've got one you can use, but it's been like 3 years since i used it last. so, finding it might prove to be a problem. i've got to dig around in my garage for something else tomorrow anyway though, so i'll look for it too. pretty sure my dad has one also if i can't find mine, he actually keeps his tools mostly organized/easy to find. [Edited on January 23, 2009 at 10:46 PM. Reason : honestly, at that price it's a tool worth having, especially if you ever plan to do another engine]
