i got out of mine a few years ago by bitching about voice qualitygf decided she could get the same value out of her cell phone by upping the plan and still pay less...she got vonage in august and now would like to get rid of it...they want to charge her a $97 cancellation fee for equipment and early terminationi'm wondering if anyone has had luck using keywords related to service that got them past the fees

Lie and tell them that Vonage traffic is being filtered by your ISP. I will probably be true eventually.

^^ it did a couple of years ago...but now all they do is offer free service...which is fine, i guess, but not what i'm looking for^ aha...and i suspect they'll say it's a problem with my ISP and they can't do anything about it

Id try the ISP card, but phrase it so that the connection quality sucks or something.

This is dishonest as hell. She knew the contract she was getting into, she should pay up to get out of it. It's one thing to get out of a termination fee if your service sucks, it's another to do it just to save a few bucks because of a bad decision on her part.

Do you return the equipment when you end the contract? If so, then the termination fees are robbery. If not, then just pay the termination fee.

^^^99% of the time it's the quality of your internet. have you had a tech come out and check your lines?i doubt it. a majority of people who have a problem with any of the VOIP services never think it could be their ISP that['s causing the problem. i've had packet 8 and vonage for at least 4 years (maybe more) and the ONLY time i've ever had a problem it was the cable companies fault.btw. i hope you are only paying $14.95 for their unlimited service. that's what i've always paid.

I just got off of the phone with Vonage, canceling an account that I had since 2005. Took about 30 minutes, including getting disconnected once by a rude CSR. Good riddance.
