1/17/2009 5:55:47 PM
i mean it was a good fightbad fucking decisionwhats worse is one judge got 30-27 for franklini dont even agree franklin won all three round, but franklin won the last two clearly i thoughthorseshit im so sick of these overseas judges
1/17/2009 5:57:09 PM

i just dont feel that henderson did enough of anything on the ground to nullify franklins domination standing...even on the ground after round 1 franklin controlled dan dan didnt do shit to franklin farnklin completely controlled dan and was offensive with submission attemptsyea round 1 was dans round all the way so 30-27 was a bullshit score, but the other two round were franklins...franklin avoided most of dans takedowns (dan had that slick trip though in round 2 that was bad ass) and fanklin was winning the stand up and the clinch striking clearlyo well. both fighters were great out there the fought a fight well worth the wait imo

The rules are such that they gave too much of an advantage to experienced wrestlers IMO. Taking someone down and then laying there (not saying that hendo did that, just in general) should not automatically give you the win because you were in the so-called dominant position. They should change the judging criteria such that if you are not active in the guard (whether on bottom or top) you should/could lose the round because of it. I think that would prevent alot of these decisions where the superior wrestler takes someone down and then does just enough work to avoid being stood up by the referee, but not enough to actually submit or damage someone otherwise.

what a shitty couple of cards coming up...ramage vs. jardine and chuck vs. shogunwell at least I will be saving some money...
1/19/2009 2:18:23 PM
^^yep shogun aint got much timechuck is gonna destroy him^its been my long standing opinion that takedowns and defending takedowns (as well as sweeps and reversals back to standing) fall under the "octagon/ring control" criteria....and that criteria is dead last in weighti think the rules in place as far as weighting techniques iare fine, but judges dont use it properly. Do judges give you a round because you move from an inferior to a neutral position on the ground?? if you escape gaurd and get side control? no they dont, but they give you a round if you can take a guy down and lay on him...even as ineffectively as dan laid on rich.i think it is because a takedown is one of the most clear effects to the judges...it is hard to tell when some strikes land depending on which judge is at which angle and even harder to tell if a landed strike is effective or not...to me takedowns are just an easy way for judges to score a roundsubmission attempts there is a certain threshold of whether or not it was actually a close attempt...it could have been close to finishing a fight or it just could have been enough to control the opponent without putting him in danger...or it could be viewed as points to the opponent becaus he "escaped" the hold (diego v.s. fitch)takedowns are just plain easer to score and more easily recalledone day itll improve
