I'm excited about the seeing this movie back on the big screen with updated effects, but not excited about a Jason that can run.
1/14/2009 1:52:43 PM
Without being familiar with the Friday the 13th series, is Jason not supposed to be able to run?
1/14/2009 4:00:22 PM
Jason isn't even suppose to be in the movie, for the most part, ... so no.
1/14/2009 4:01:37 PM
I don't think it is actually a remake of the original, just another Jason movie.[Edited on January 14, 2009 at 4:13 PM. Reason : :]
1/14/2009 4:12:45 PM
Well the original Jason I don't think he ever had to run after anyone, he just knew where to go or was always in the right spot for the kill. In the later movies he ran but I think it takes away from the lore of Jason.[Edited on January 14, 2009 at 4:21 PM. Reason : asdf]
1/14/2009 4:15:47 PM
His mom isnt undead, so I dont see why she cant run, unless her costume use to be too heavy for her heh.
1/14/2009 4:19:51 PM
I read the Wikipedia entry on the movie. It's not a "remake" of the first movie -- more a retelling that will incorporate elements of the story from the first four movies. Apparently. I've never really seen much of the series.
1/14/2009 4:21:07 PM
Right, from what I'm seeing it's the first 3 movies in one. I believe they kinda skip Jason's mom and get more into when he comes up from the lake to resume the killings.
1/14/2009 4:23:14 PM
I was curious too, since the first bad guy was actually jason's mom, since she thought he was dead and blamed the camp.Turned out Jason was alive until later - then he was killed - then he became undead when lightning struck his grave in like the 4th movie, while some guys were trying to dig him up.
1/14/2009 4:29:35 PM
Hmm, didn't know that, I thought he was always undead. Didn't he drown as a kid?
1/14/2009 4:48:26 PM
Yea I was under the impression he died as a kid in the lake. But then again its just an 80s slasher series, so who cares about plot holes? Don't get me started on halloween hah.
1/14/2009 6:36:43 PM
Plus, "Jason" didnt get the mask until the third movie. So, with all of these inconsistencies from the original, we have to assume that it isnt a "remake." Maybe it's just a collaboration of the many faces of Jason throughout the series. I do like how they kept the same music, at least in the trailer. Bumbumbum Ahahah ChiChiChi.

a little back story on making the original theme from composer, harry manfredini
1/14/2009 10:29:38 PM
i fucking love the first one. probably seen it 20 times or so i am really tired of this format, though.bunch of really good-looking kids riding out to somewhere desolate to act like assholes, fuck a lot, and be incomprehensible idiots (ie, latest Tex Chainsaw Massacre, Freddy vs Jason, etc), until the slaughtering begins. boring as all hell, predictable as FUCK. that said, I'll totally see this. <3 Jason.I am curious to see how he acquires the mask so quickly in this one. I think he didn't get it until part 3 in the original series.[Edited on January 15, 2009 at 12:40 AM. Reason : asasasaa]
1/15/2009 12:34:31 AM
yeah, in part 3 there was this fat prankster guy that had that mask and was trying to scare people with it by acting like a homicidal maniac. Then Jason got it and everyone just thought he was the prankster but really he was an actual homicidal maniac. I think the prankster end up getting a harpoon to the eye.If I remember correctly...
1/15/2009 10:25:13 AM
^ Close. He got his throat slashed, and everyone thought he was playing a joke on them.

Part 1 and 2 are on FearNet on Demand. It's on channel 503 on TWC. I just got through watching part 1 for probably the 6th time. I saw 2 yesterday.I can't wait til next Friday. I was looking at the listings today for Friday the 13th for the Regal theatres. Their theatres are only showing it on 1 screen each. I know their will be a ton of people going to see it on Friday the 13th. I would advise to get tix early.
2/6/2009 10:32:38 PM
Don't know about the other theaters, but the Raleigh Grande will do a midnight show Thursday Feb 12th. Door prizes and all that good stuff. Can't wait to see this... and then... hold my breath for The Watchmen!
2/7/2009 1:40:09 AM
So you guys know a lot about Friday the 13th...Can you think of any tough trivia questions for me?
2/7/2009 11:33:45 AM
The girl with the blond hair went to my highschool....think she graduated a year before me. Ended up going to college in NYC, but dropped out to pursue acting. looks like it worked?
2/7/2009 12:45:12 PM

2/7/2009 1:04:28 PM

I just saw "His name was Jason", the Friday the 13th documentary. It was pretty good with appearances from cast and crew of all the Friday the 13 movies including the new one.Their was an idea of a Friday the 13th movie featuring the survivors of the movies (Alice from 1, Ginny from 2, Chris from 3, etc) being reunited and once again confront Jason. I would like to see that happen.
2/8/2009 8:41:27 PM
Pretty cool viral I just foundhttp://www.jasonkills.com/us/
2/9/2009 11:11:55 PM
I liked it. Entertaining... girls were scared.
2/13/2009 3:15:18 AM
^^^ Alice dies at the start of the second one though...
2/13/2009 9:26:35 AM
^ thats right... my bad. I'm about to go to North Hills to get my tix for Friday the 13th.If you have HD in the triangle, HDnet Movies is showing Friday the 13th 3-8 starting at 9:30pm tonight. I think the channel is 294.
2/13/2009 5:06:25 PM
typical Michael Bay shit. just like Chainsaw Massacre remake.a batch of dashing abercrombie/urban outfitters-clad kids set out to find a huge amount of pot to sell, and subsequently die along the way in horrific ways.oh, there are tits, too. nice ones.kills - 8.5overall scares - 8everything else - written by a teenager
2/14/2009 9:01:27 AM
Despite some of the stupid teenage sex and drugs crap, I actually liked it. I never really cared much for Michael Bay but he did pretty good job with it.For those who saw it, their is a wheel chair in Jason's "underground tunnel". That was Mark, the handicap guy's wheelchair from Part 2.
2/14/2009 9:40:54 AM
I thought the whistle collection Jason had going in the old house was a nice touch.
2/14/2009 10:57:55 AM
Hearing people actually complain about drugs and sex in these movies makes me laugh. Have you seen any slasher film...ever?That's what they are known for.
2/14/2009 11:51:16 AM
its a morality film
2/14/2009 1:36:28 PM
^^ The sex/drug stuff just annoys me sometimes.
2/14/2009 8:23:27 PM
we saw this at MV on friday night. the couple rows behind us were full of barely-legals who had to joke through the whole movie. sometimes i wanted to smack them, but sometimes it was amusing. at one point the entire theater erupted into screaming followed by cheering, and that was actually pretty fucking hilarious. my recommendation is to not sit any closer than halfway from the screen. the "michael bay shake" makes it hard to follow some of the action/kills at times.overall opinion- lots of fun, lots of "tribute kills," and an appreciated lack of obscene, unnecessary gore. they definitely made jason a lot cooler to watch. tit scenes were greatrest of the movie suckedthe entire theater i was in erupted in laughter when the title screen popped up 30 minutes in
2/16/2009 7:32:44 AM
tit scenes were greatI enjoyed the rest of it too because I really wasn't expecting it to be groundbreaking but just fun
2/16/2009 9:16:49 AM
this movie is proof that you don't need a good movie to have a good time AT the movies.MV on friday night was outstanding.reminds me of similar experiences I've had at that theater for Jackass: The Movie, the Simpsons Movie, Old School, the Rundown, the Star Wars remakes ...none are good movies. a fun crowd on opening night is all you need.
2/16/2009 10:45:40 AM
I haven't seen the new one yet. But, the best part of the first run of Ft13 movies was Tommy (Corey Feldman).
2/26/2009 4:13:59 AM
8.5? Now I have to go watch the fucking movie just to know how you get half a kill.Man, these re-makes keep throwing off my kill lists. As of Freddy vs. Jason, Jason's broken the 150-mark, depending on whether you count the extra kids on the boat in part 8, or whether you count part 5 as him or not (also giving no credit for 1, of course). Any way you look at it, he's got almost twice Michael's count, and four - five times Freddy's, and they've all had about the same number of movies.
2/26/2009 5:39:19 AM
