Didn't see a thread for this year, so here you go. I'm not an organizer or anything - just wanted to give this event some love. Mods, delete as need be. There’s a time to run, a time to eat donuts, and a time to do both at the same time. Yes, it’s Krispy Kreme Challenge time again! http://www.krispykremechallenge.com/Here’s the deal. Runners start at the NC State University Belltower, run 2 miles to the Krispy Kreme, eat a dozen donuts, then run back. In under an hour. Last year they had around 3,400 runners, and raised over $20,000 for the NC Children’s Hospital. This year they expect around 5,000 runners. It’s a great time, for a great cause.I've posted mileages, course notes, and whatnot at http://sourcetosea.net/krispy-kreme-challenge-2009/Again, visit http://www.krispykremechallenge.com/ for info and registration. You know you want to.[Edited on January 12, 2009 at 6:28 PM. Reason : .]

Great, they raise $20,000, and cause losses of $200,000 to society over the long term because of that event (from the increased consumption of donuts on that day). And if you are looking at not just that day, they cause losses to society in the millions ever the years, and in the billions over decades. How great is that!!!!
1/12/2009 6:15:41 PM
And it begins.
1/12/2009 6:16:38 PM
Oh yeah, it's going to be on Feb 7th this year. I ran the course yesterday, and I'm digging it.
1/12/2009 6:24:25 PM
Hey, as long as you are happy contributing to the billions of taxpayer dollars that are used to treat diabetes, heart diseases, and cancers every year, be my guest and go take part and encourage others to take part!!!(not to mention, the billions in losses every year due to sick days related to such diseases)
1/12/2009 6:27:18 PM
I need to start running so I have a chance of completing this thing. Last year I had just broken both my wrists and wasn't in the mood for running.
1/12/2009 6:37:07 PM
Dude, this is one of the reasons I actually started running again. Any miles you can get in the next month will pay off.
1/12/2009 6:38:44 PM
i signed up for the challenge but there is no way i can eat 12 of those damn things
1/12/2009 6:54:16 PM
1/12/2009 7:06:27 PM
You just got to get your mind right
1/12/2009 7:18:54 PM
I'd be there if I weren't in Alabama. Good times! [Edited on January 12, 2009 at 7:20 PM. Reason : speaking of humandrive]
1/12/2009 7:19:20 PM
^ thanks for posting the PG picture
1/12/2009 7:39:51 PM
OEP, can you explain how you calculated that $200,000 figure? I'm also interested how it will cost billions over decades, but I'll settle on the $200,000 for now.
1/12/2009 8:07:05 PM
Oh man, don't feed him!
1/12/2009 8:09:19 PM
I wasn't but 2 or 3 doughnuts deep at that point, why I'm smiling and the other guy (10 or so deep) doesn't look happy.
1/12/2009 8:12:13 PM
and within how many minutes were you both puking them all up?

Anyone who can run the 4+ miles probably won't have a health issue eating 12 doughnuts one time.
1/12/2009 9:30:21 PM
Thinking about eating a dozen KK donuts at once makes me want to puke I do enjoy watching other people do it though.
1/12/2009 10:56:10 PM
each KK original glazed has 2g trans fat...so I'll be eating ~24g more trans fat than I have in the past year?
1/13/2009 6:12:43 AM
then dont do the fucking event if you have such a problem with it
1/13/2009 8:27:44 AM
I ran last year. I scarfed down 7 donuts and didn't feel so well after that. Ended up just tucking the box under my arm and ran back...
1/13/2009 8:38:30 AM
I dont think I could eat more than 2 of those things in one sitting, and nowhere near running ha
1/13/2009 8:54:20 AM
I'm not running, but I'll do my part on the doughnuts.^ I can usually only eat one if they're fresh and warm. Once they're not warm though, it's open season.[Edited on January 13, 2009 at 8:59 AM. Reason : *]

1/13/2009 9:07:48 AM
I think when I did it 2 years ago, I was one of the first 10 people TO the Krispy Kreme...warm donuts FTW!!!
1/13/2009 9:20:03 AM
If eating a dozen doughnuts causes diabetes (according to retard logic) then I should be on an IV of insulin.
1/13/2009 11:17:02 AM
I'm pretty sure they are trans fat free now and I'm pumped to be running my first Krispy Kreme Challenge this year.
1/13/2009 11:47:23 AM
yea, they may be trans fat, i was just checking out there stats online that they provide...I had gotten my prior stat of 2g/doughnut from a nutrion handbook citing specifically that each original glazed had 2g trans fat...book was published 2006. Called Eat This, Not That. I'm still going to participate...will be my first time I'll ever be able to do something like this. I've lost 100lbs since 1/21/08 and this will actually fit into my diet if I time it right. Going to be starting a CKD plan Feb 1st...guess the carb loading phase will wait til Feb 7th I'm actually hoping I puke
1/13/2009 1:14:39 PM
gg on losing 100 pounds.bg on hoping to puke
1/13/2009 1:54:56 PM
1/13/2009 5:26:59 PM
remember reading an article in the technician last year about the methods the winners used to eat the donuts fast.one was like, i mash up the donuts into pulp and "drink them"
1/13/2009 10:24:12 PM
b/c 1 dozen donuts will kill youmorons
1/14/2009 1:53:00 PM
3 year for me. Morans.
1/14/2009 3:23:38 PM
FYI: Krispy Kreme doughnuts don't have trans fats anymore. But don't worry, there's still plenty of the regular kind.
1/14/2009 4:04:22 PM
damn, wish I could do this again
1/14/2009 4:58:26 PM
^^^ you will never know until at least 10 years the diseases and effects of such self-inflicted traumas on your body... (at 0EPII1)
1/15/2009 1:37:06 AM
did it successfully last year... I got to 6 and then was cheered on through the rest of the 12... no way I would have done that without a cheering section...The run actually was pretty easy since running there is 2miles, then it took 15-20minutes to eat the donuts and by that time I had caught my breath and everything and was good to go for the run back...the only time I got a little noxious was when I made the mistake of licking my sticky finger on the way back without thinking about it in an attempt to clean it a little...that being said... I've done it successfully... won't be doing it again... my body hated me for the rest of the day
1/15/2009 9:18:10 AM
yea i hear its one of those things you really do once. props on putting down 12, we'll see if i can in a couple weeks
1/15/2009 4:42:58 PM
