i'm guessing you are going by your critical opinion and not box office performance?and when you go to the movies do you go in specifically looking for things to hate and reasons not to enjoy it?
1/12/2009 4:40:00 PM
I don't agree with:Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal SkullZack and Miri Make a PornoWantedQuantum of SolaceCloverfield
1/12/2009 4:41:34 PM
I hated Wanted as well.
1/12/2009 4:42:05 PM
Southland TalesIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SkullI wouldn't consider Wanted, QoS, or Cloverfield a bad film.
1/12/2009 4:43:48 PM
lol, no I don't look for reasons to dislike things.but when I laugh maybe twice at a comedy like Z&M, the movie is not enjoyable for me.and when writing is terrible and ridiculous for things like Cloverfield, Hancock, Wanted, the movie is not enjoyable for me.Wanted and QoS are probably the best movies on this list, but they still had a silly number of problems. The main one in QoS being the incredibly weak villain. Wanted relied on unclever plot twists, and used witty, pissed off voiceover to an incredibly annoying level. It also just wasn't very original in general, especially borrowing from the matrix.Like I said, these are just of movies I've seen this year and I'm probably forgetting some. I mean if I'd seen disaster movie, Twilight, eagle eye, the mummy, four christmases, sex and the city, etc. then some of these remotely OK movies would not be in my bottom ten.

I was entertained by Wanted and Cloverfield. They aren't winning any Oscars for writing or acting but they were entertaining.Hancock and Step Brothers sucked balls.

1/12/2009 5:16:28 PM
Southland Tales shouldn't count, because it's so incredibly off the wall it's beyond simple entertainment.
1/12/2009 5:18:52 PM
I didn't see that, is that the one with Keanu?
1/12/2009 5:21:48 PM
No.
1/12/2009 5:25:27 PM
I saw the last 20 minutes of The MummyIt was unspeakably awful
1/12/2009 5:26:25 PM
hahaha, I wonder what I am thinking of.oh, Street Kings. I don't know why I confused these.
1/12/2009 5:27:42 PM

I liked Hancock. The Mummy 3 definitely belongs on the list.
1/12/2009 6:08:32 PM
CloverfieldThe Happening (although the guys of MST3K's riff of the movie was brilliant!)
1/12/2009 6:20:27 PM
Cloverfield was great. come on guiz
1/12/2009 6:26:40 PM
Cloverfield just felt like a rehashed version of the Blair Witch Project. Only I think that movie did more by showing less. Cloverfield also left you with questions, but nothing I cared to think about 5 minutes after watching it.
1/12/2009 6:32:52 PM
the OFFICIAL movies i didnt like thread.
1/12/2009 6:34:46 PM
you're right, the love guru is cinematic gold.
1/12/2009 6:36:27 PM
oh im not saying there arent some bad ones on there, but come on. half of your list is going to be contested and the other half is stupid comedies that KNEW they were stupid comedies. you think will ferrel was wandering around dreaming of oscar gold when he was filiming step brothers?
1/12/2009 6:41:59 PM
he was dreaming of doing a funny movie, that i guarantee you. if it wasn't funny, then it's a bad movie.
1/12/2009 6:44:27 PM
^^What are you babbling about? These are the ten movies that I thought were the worst of 2008, regardless of "knowing they were stupid". Post yours.Discuss.Welcome to the internet.^Thank you.[Edited on January 12, 2009 at 6:46 PM. Reason : .]
1/12/2009 6:45:36 PM
I thought Cloverfield was 2007.I guess that's how much of an impression it left on me.I haven't really seen a lot of movies I thought were bad this year, usually I can spot bad movies before I watch them.YDMWTZohan was pretty bad, but watching that one wasn't my idea.

Blindness10000 BCJumperRambo? (cant remember if this was 2008)Leatherheads
1/12/2009 7:30:05 PM
Rambo was fucking awesome.. You have to appreciate a sequel thats just as awesome as the others without getting bland or playing the "I'm too old for this shit!" card too much.
1/12/2009 8:48:34 PM
^ well said, awsome movie!!!
1/12/2009 9:18:50 PM
The Dark Knight
1/12/2009 9:30:18 PM
Didn't that fucking chihuahua movie come out in '08?I didn't watch it, but I'm sure it belongs on any "bad movies" list, along with whatever the 2/5 writers of Scary Movie decided to shit out this past year.[Edited on January 12, 2009 at 9:34 PM. Reason : this past year]
1/12/2009 9:34:02 PM

1/12/2009 11:23:44 PM
there were a lot of really really terrible movies this yeari wish hollywood would stop pumping out so much crap and focus on better releases rather than volume
1/12/2009 11:37:43 PM
You Don't Mess With The ZohanAppaloosa (quite possibly worst movie I've ever seen in a theater)And a guy really said Rambo? WTF?Hancock was better than expected.
1/12/2009 11:37:47 PM
i'm gonna go ahead and say you're wrong about wanted
1/12/2009 11:43:20 PM
1/12/2009 11:50:03 PM
what makes you think its aim was "clever"?i think you expected too much from it and it "let you down"thats not the movie's faultthen again, i don't take seriously the opinion of people who saw half the movies on your listso carry on with your incorrectness
1/12/2009 11:58:19 PM
Haha, trust me, I certainly did not "expect too much from it"and think what you want, it's not like I went into "half the movies" on my list thinking, OH BOY, THE HAPPENING! THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME. I work at a theater. I watch movies. I do things like screen prints/have friends that do in fact say, OH BOY, ZOHAN, so I go watch it if I have nothing else to do. if you didn't see any bad movies in 2008 then I'm happy for you. and shit, I was called incorrect for disliking a movie that utilizes fate, magic healing tubs, multiple matrix gimmicks, and angsty-fed-up-cubicle-slave-that-isn't-gonna-take-it-any-more voiceover. I lose.
1/13/2009 12:22:04 AM
incorrect again siryou didn't title the thread "movies i didn't like"you said "worst movies"
1/13/2009 12:23:43 AM
LOL, so you're gonna be "that guy".Yes. And I posted the
1/13/2009 12:26:54 AM
So by saying Wanted sucked because it was ridiculous, you must have also hated "Shoot 'Em Up" and "Crank" as well I take it? If you did that's fine, just trying to make sure you hate all of these types of movies. But I'll agree with Indy, Zohan, and Hancock. I can add Semi-Pro and The Ruins as well. I've also heard that "The Happening", "The Day the Earth Stood Still", and "The Strangers" were all terrible.
1/13/2009 12:28:49 AM
not "gonna", "am"and no, i did not pay to watch a bad movie this yearand since i don't work at a theater, know anyone who does, i get to spend my time watching movies that are worth itand you keep harping on these things about wanted that aren't nearly as bad as you're making them out to bei personally loved the voice-overthe movie actually made me re-evaluate the scottish kid in the same way bourne identity made me look differently at matt damoni'm not going to say i loved the action, but i thought it was above the curve for MODERN-ACTION-MOVIEplus, i love hitmen/assassin movies, so some of it was really really fun to watchonce again - it was a fun, popcorn moviei left work early one day, because i figured nobody i know would want to watch it, and caught a matineei saw it again within like 3 days and one more time in the theaters before it left...
1/13/2009 12:33:17 AM
OK. You liked it, high five. I thought it was among the ten, maybe 15 after remembering some, worst I've seen this year. Our tastes differ. I'm glad we could come to this conclusion. I'm going to try to stop arguing now. Good writing is probably my most highly valued trait in a movie. And I thought Wanted's was poor, that's it. I agree, the action scenes were fun.Oh, I also forgot Transporter 3.[Edited on January 13, 2009 at 12:49 AM. Reason : .]
