I have a Yamaha HTR=5730, and everytime i try to switch inputs it powers down. Once its on its on but going through any kind of options makes it switch itself off....any audiophiles good at repairing receivers? Or know of an authorized dealer/vendor that can do so? I really don't feel like dropping 200 on a receiver right now

If anyone here can fix it i'll of course compensate (from my research it seems like nothing much than a blown fuse) or can point me in the right direction i'd greatly appreciate

pop it open, look for a blown fuse.

If it turns on at all, it's not likely a blown fuse. Fuses are typically on the front-end of the power supplies. I'm not an expert on things like receivers, but from what limited knowledge I have with them, if something internally is wrong the protective circuits will shut the unit down.

I've had one with a blown amplifier MOSFET and it would turn on for about 5-10 seconds before it would shut off. Unless you can see what component(s) have failed it might be cheaper to replace the unit than to try to get it repaired.

The fuses, if they have one, are typically user replaceable. Look for a fuse plug on the back.

otherwise, make sure there's no shorts in the speaker wiring. A single strand of wiring hitting the case can short it out and trigger protection mode.
