I remember hearing a few years ago that after C-F expansion we would build a multi sport indoor facility (indoor track and football) near Carter-Finley. Anyone have any updates on this?I also talked with a big Wolfpack Club donor not too long ago who told me that they're really considering yet another expansion project in a few years...to bowl in the upper section of the north endzone.btw, i know there have been threads on this before but they're all dead. indoor football practice facility will probably be first

i think they should close in the upper deck. i'm out of state now and didn't get to see many games on TV - how was attendance at CF this season? As long as its good, might as well add seats.

This is clearly what our football program needs. Maybe we should invest in changing the school colors to a color no other team uses, seeing how we were like 0 - 5 against teams with red as part of their school colors. \/ I'd rather they give the best recruits moms SUVs.[Edited on January 1, 2009 at 5:16 PM. Would you rather the donors pay players?

I have heard about redoing the student side of the stadium (side opposite Vaugh towers) to make it like the towers, as I believe a lot of it is original stadium.Indoor practice fields ive also heard mentioned but doubt it will happen. Id like to see turf happen on miller fields first, which seems more likely.-jdmanattendance wasnt bad, but it wasnt full completely for any game either. Next year might change that if we keep up with Wilson playing (and he doesnt injure himself).

I wish we'd put a brick facade around the outside of the stadium -- something similar to Doak Campbell Stadium. Our stadium looks awesome when you're inside watching the game, but when you see it from the outside, it's not much to look at. Always seemed to look undone to me, with the skeletal supports for the towers in plain view. Plus we're NC State, brick is what we do.Here's two examples of the brick facades I'm talking about (don't know how to do the picture thing)FSU:http://www.fsu.com/ecard32/images/FSUSports/stadium004.jpgWake:http://wakeforestfacilities.com/im_renderings/ext_cam05_donor-plaza.jpg

Eventual stadium improvements (in semi-order of likelihood):1 - Upgrade east side facilities - bathrooms, concessions, entrance gates2 - Indoor practice facility - hopefully with indoor track included3 - Something big on the east side - more luxury boxes or something like that4 - Bowl in upper deck on the north end zone - leave a gap for the scoreboard (like Qualcomm) or raise it up?But other than #1, those aren't gonna happen for a while. WPC has a lot of debt left to pay off for the Murphy Center, Vaughn Towers, and the NEZ. When the Murphy Center gets paid off, they'll start talking about some improvements.

I think as far as recruiting, and training our athletes...the indoor practice facility is vital. I remember seeing pads in the hallways at the murph so players could run sprints down the hallways and not hurt themselves. As far as the stadium goes...I would love to see a compliment to the vaughn towers and some east side improvements in bathrooms/concessions. Then some work on the outside of the stadium would be great. Then, with some winning seasons, it will be time for the endzone to fill out, taking us somewhere around 75,000 hopefully (which I think is a great number to shoot for)

i don't think they'll do a brick facade like Maverick1024 is talking about. I think the era of the giant brick (or poured concrete) bowls is over - most new stadiums are more open space and connected to the surroundings....

Well dammit

as nice as those look, that would be really expensive and is ultimately just a facade. you could do a lot more stuff w/ that money that'd be a lot more useful.
1/2/2009 6:17:53 PM
I agree FSU's would be retarded expensive and probably unnecessary. Still, I think we could do something similar to Wake's Deacon Tower around the Vaughan Towers and not break the bank. Maybe it's just me, but the Vaughn Towers always look undone when I see them from the road -- like we got 90% of the way done and said "i guess that'll do"[Edited on January 2, 2009 at 7:05 PM. if a Vaugn Towers type expansion is done on the East side, doesn't that really limit any further expansion aside from the North Endzone being bowl-ed in? It's not that we would need the seats right away, but one has to think with the rate that Raleigh & surrounding areas are growing and the current size of NCSU, that in 15-20 years if our football program continues to build we would need more seating.Just a thought
1/2/2009 8:00:40 PM
yea, I always thought that a third level on the east side (opposite of vaughn towers), plus bowling in the second level in the north endzone would be an option
1/2/2009 8:18:59 PM
make the endzones higher before the sidelines imo, like beaver stadium.

yeah where is that, I'd like to see.
