Crowd: "JUDAS"Bob Dylan:"I don't believe you. You're a LIAR!" (to the band) "Play it fucking loud!"as far as the studio goes, the first "let me put you in the picture, let me show you what i mean" in Love Spreads after they come back from the breakdown, funny that my favorite stone roses moment comes off the second album.

Did I see you post something about one of Edge's chords at the beginning of a U2 song as one of greatest moments in recorded music?I swear I read that on here at some point.
12/29/2008 12:06:16 PM
^ Yeah, that's a good one. The huge distorted chord that sits in the background at the beginning of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."

- The guitar breakdown/wimpy drum solo by Ringo towards the end of Abbey Road- The chord (I swear I can hear it!) that is missed and played barely off-key in "Sexy Sadie" about 1/3-1/2 of the way through.- The "wipe" near the end of "Have a Cigar" during a Gilmour solo that makes everything low-fi and, inexplicably, makes me love that solo even more.- When Embassy Row (Pavement) kicks it into high gear after the slow little intro.- The entirety of Van Morrison singing "Caravan" in The Last Waltz.- "Red-Eyed and Blue" into "I Got You" on Wilco's Being There- The last minute of Uncle Tupelo's "Chickamuga"[Edited on December 29, 2008 at 12:49 PM. - marvin gaye's "woo" right after tammi terrell sings "my love is alive" in "ain't no mountain high enough"- the fast section of "light-rail coyote" by sleater-kinney, specifically the two big chords that ring out to designate where it starts- the end of "oh comely" by neutral milk hotel, where you can hear someone in the back of the house yell "HOLY SHIT!" ]

I could do this all day. I think I actually made this thread at some point but who cares.Do Make Say Think - A With Living and The Universe!the 2nd chorus around the 4 minute mark when all the instruments and all thousand of the band members join in. The song then devolves into a beautiful and relaxed instrumental. This leads to another favorite moment. As soon as the song ends "The Universe!" kicks the door down for five minutes of noise. Great use of tracklisting.Xiu Xiu - I Luv The Valley Oh!the scream at 1:47Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Sleepfrom 18:19 until the end of the songRadiohead - Jigsaw Falling Into Placestarting with the acoustic solo at 2:54 and through both waves of violins with one of my favorite Thom vocal performances.Beach Boys - God Only Knowsentire song. if the song doesn't fade out at the end, it could last forever.

-clare torry's vocals in "great gig in the sky", always hits me in a visceral way.-when paul mccartney laughs in "maxwell's silver hammer", as john lennon is mooning him.-the way "helter skelter" fades out and then fades back in.-that one bright eyes song where the one guy fucks up, and they stop for a moment and then start again.-also, that weird conor oberst radio interview at the end of fevers and mirrors. i love that it's not even conor.my girlfriend loves the raw opening guitar in "i wanna be your dog".
12/29/2008 10:06:42 PM
"i wanna be your dog"that song is so menacing. which for some small reason reminds me of another choice: Animal Collective - Banshee Beat. I like that tension built during the opening with a singular note played over and over again.

I love it when John Vanderslice sings "in a white hot panic I" in "Dead Slate Pacific"the piano runs behind Nina Simone's version of "Wild is the Wind"also basically every interjection Bill Withers uses in "Use Me"and that little beat in the second verse (between "why" and "everything") of "Go Your Own Way" by Fleetwood Macand that Morrissey trails off the first two lines of the second verse of "Will Never Marry"[Edited on December 30, 2008 at 2:18 AM. In Red Animal War's "when fat pigs fly" the bridge in that song that starts with the lyrics 'when fat pigs fly...' absolutely makes that song. Never was sure what it was but the mood of that little section its absolutely freaking perfect for its spot in the song and I think that every time I hear the song still to this day.also there are SO many parts on the deftones white pony that I could pick. That album is recorded and produced so well its insane. But one of the standout parts is about 2:33-2:57 into the song "Digital Bath" where most of the normal music cuts out except some faint cymbal hits and Chino's lyrics are "you breathed then you stopped, i breathed then dried you off..." What makes the part is the sampling in the background that DJ Frank Delgado does that literally sounds like a pristine digital stream of water and then the parts ends with the screeching noise. Instant goosebumps.[Edited on January 7, 2009 at 6:44 PM. Reason : ]
