Anybody got this service? Know how it works? Good firestone shops around raleigh?

I have it. I've got my money's worth out of it, but good luck finding a shop that will set it up the way you want and know what they are doing. Most just want to set the toe and go. I used it after replacing tires, tie rods, etc. I ended up paying a non-firestone place in the end to get what I wanted though.

are they still doing that?

they tried to sell me on this a couple of weeks ago when i got new tires and an alignment...i opted outi'd have to get it aligned another time in less than 40k miles to break even and i'm hoping to sell the car around 200k, so it wasn't really worth it
7/13/2011 12:03:38 PM
40k miles? I'd imagine you want an alignment more often than that.
7/13/2011 12:27:26 PM
why? I rotate my tires, get them balanced and have even tread wear. There is no shimmy or pull in my steering and there hasnt been for the last 100,000 miles. But i also dont drive my car hard.

i have it....really only takes 2 alignments to pay for itself, so why not?

^^it depends greatly on the roads you drive, but in general over time some things will vary.I get rotations fairly often, as I can't rotate my tires. Then again I have to replace the tires every 1.5-2 yrs anyway

I guess that does make sense. If anything I'd tell you to stretch your oil changes to 7500

is the quality of service at firestone worthwhile enough to do this over gowers?[Edited on July 13, 2011 at 3:59 PM. Reason : fyi there's a $25 off coupon for firestone that expires today]

speaking of alignments, where's a good place to go around Raleigh that is open on Saturdays?I'd like to be able to specify the measurements and sit in the car while they do it.suggestions?

I used to get my last S2000 aligned every 6-8k or so when I replaced the tires.I can't imagine going 50,000+ miles on an alignment or set of tires, haha.

i know digital chassis in durham will do it, but they're closed on sat, as is import performance on hillsborough. i'll keep looking

I got this on my Saturn in 2001. It paid for itself in two years. I still own the car and have probably saved 4-500 bucks in the last 10 years as a result.

^^ sounds like you have a story to tell

dude, i run my tires until they are pretty much slick and/or showing cord, and I don't think I've EVER gotten more than 10k-12k out of a set of tires on a sports/high performance car (turbo Miata, either S2000, Evo, or Z06). For that matter, I've only gotten the upper end of that range with slightly lesser tires like BFG KDW2 or the Goodyear Eagles in that class. With something like Star Specs or NT05s, I'd be thrilled just to get 10k.

I mean...you know how I drive cars, and that I don't baby them.Quite weird.
