Probably the builder/contractor guys know best about this,

but I'm looking to have some custom plastics made of Roman Columns that look like the one in this link here (scroll down, on the right hand side)

http://www.pacificcolumns.com/column-builder/esrt/results.php?pn=ES1209ATCSAATRD

They need to be able to made custom height/width and be cheaper than current plans, which is to have them made out of stone or cement. I'm guessing plastic would be the cheapest route and also the lightest which would be very nice too. But Cost is the most important consideration here.

These columns are going to be going into an enclosed building containing a pool, so they must be able to handle getting wet if there are any splashes or moisture in the air.

Does anybody know where I can get these built somewhere? Greatly appreciated, thanks

I really doubt having a custom one made is going to be cheaper than what's already available..

and typically plastic is only "light" because things made of it are thin and/or hollow. Plastic by itself is actually pretty heavy. The only way I could see of really making a hollow one out of plastic is by rotational molding.. and that gets expensive fast.

For something like this I would agree going custom would be more expensive.

^lol

it's not for me, it's for my parents who are building an indoor pool and modeling some ancient roman bath thing

anyways, they currently have a quote for cement/stone columns at $500/piece, which is ridiculous, Lowe's sells fiberglass versions for $100/piece. I'm gonna try to hit up lowe's with a custom order to see if they can get me the width/height of what I want and have it in a cheaper form.

have you tried looking through e-sweets catalog for a manufacturer, and then finding a distributor in your area?

How about Greek columns, since the Romans pretty much copied them.

slap some sense into your parents. this is what happens when they don't have to financially support you anymore -- they buy stupid shit
