I don't think there is a person in the country who could logically debate Hansbrough's college dominance. As a non UNC fan, it has been almost sickening to watch him, for the most part score at will. The records he will set this season speak for themselves. When all is said and done, "Psycho T" will be considered to be on of the greatest college basketball players of all time. Maybe not as innovative as David Thompson, but he is "country strong".That being said, he does not play beautiful basketball. While watching him play, some analyist will say, at least three times, "he isn't graceful, but he wills in it." His scoring records will stand for a long time, in an era where players are so eager to leave for the NBA. Hansbrough made the right choice to stay, he is getting a quality education at Chapel Hill and has a great chance at being a national champion. But what about next year, when he is undoubtedly drafted in the NBA.As easily as we can all agree on Hansbrough's NCAA dominance, I think we can all equally agree that he will be mediocre at best in the NBA. In the league, work ethic and "will" do not make up for size and athleticism. He doesn't have the size to be a power forward and he doesn't have the speed or shooting to be a small forward. Kevin Love, who was highly touted at UCLA as the "Hansbrough-like" is finding his NBA experiance difficult, and he is an inch taller and about five pounds heavier than Hansbrough. Hansbrough, at 6'9/250 will be relagated to being either a Power Forward or a Small Forward, in the event the reader is unaware of his competition at these positions I will lay it out. I will not give weight and height for everyone.Small Forwards- Lebron James 6'8/253 (if you think he can defend Lebron you might have a learning disability, and he certainly won't score on him)Paul Pierce, Carmelo Anthony, Luoul Deng, Richard Jefferson, Josh Smith, Andrei Kirilenko, et alI am aware, that no one is expecting Hansbrough to be a small forward, but that is where his size would best fit. He does, as they say, play bigger than his size, so he must be a power forward, but I think he will run into just as much trouble there.Power Fowards- Kevin Garnett 6'11/255 (have fun scoring or defending this guy)Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki,Chris Bosh,Carlos Boozer, Pau Gasol, Shawn Marion, Al Jefferson, Kenyon Martin et alAnd just for fun, lets imagine Tyler as a Center.Centers- Amare Stoudemire, Yao Ming, Dwight Howard, Greg Oden, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Shaq, Andrew Bynum et al.I know that this list does not include all players at the postion, but it shows the type of player Hansbrough will have to defend and score on.With all this factual evidence, I don't see how anyone can logically debate he will be amazing in the NBA. In no way will his flop of an NBA career reflect on the greatness of his NCAA legacy. Just ask any Wolfpack fan about David Thomspon.

I for the most part believe Hansbrough will make it in the NBA.- I dont believe by any sort of the imagination he will ever be an all star.- I dont think you will ever be able to compare him to any of the superstars- I think you will be able to classify him as "a good NBA player"My comparison for him is: DAVID LEEI can see Hansbrough NBA career average being right at LEE's 9.5 ppg, 8.2 rpg

is he allowed to wear contacts in the NBA?
12/18/2008 2:45:31 PM
Time will only tell. We could all be wrong, he could possibly end up the greatest player the NBA has ever known, but i just don't see him being that big an influence. Also, i'm glad the pack actually managed to beat ECU this year. also, who's ready for birmingham? And as far as Pee drankin, i do it because it's sterile and i like the way it tastes
12/18/2008 2:50:44 PM
Hansborough will probably be a decent play but his will is going to be an All-Star.

he will be a career reserve...probably play 10-12 years and average 8 and 5...might peak a couple seasons and average 14 and 9...course it depends where he gets drafted...does a young team with little depth draft him, forcing him to play more minutes, and have better cumulative numbers...or does he go to a good team and get 8-10 minutes per game
12/18/2008 5:10:01 PM
Was anyone watching the Pitt/Siena game last night? They must've spent ten minutes during the game pounding on Hansbrough, how he was NOT going to be much of an NBA player. We talk about it on here a lot but it was interesting seeing the talking heads actually do it...i've never heard it out of the mass media before
12/18/2008 5:16:51 PM
He will have at least three incidents where he almost comes to blows with another player for going 110 percent in garbage time of a 30 point blowout

jesus christ. seriously, i fucking ABHOR tyler hansbrough, and hate to even look at the fucker. but unless you are all fucking liars, you'll admit that if he played for State, you guys would be predicting how many Finals MVP trophies he would take home in the next 15 years.srsly. for srs.he's a great player, and in the NBA, he'll only get stronger, and like many guys who play as hard as him, he'll make himself up to par w/ the rest of the league. by no means do I think he'll be a star, but i can see him being a vital inside presence for a mid-level team. possibly starting by year 3.
12/18/2008 9:41:22 PM
Really? Are we predicting how many superbowl MVP's Russel Wilson will get? Some people just don't translate their skills into the pros, Hansbro is a perfect example.
12/18/2008 9:49:22 PM
Jason White won a Heisman and didn't do shit in the NFLHansbrough will do something in the NBA, but nothing like his collegiate accolades

12/18/2008 10:12:33 PM
slave famous wins this thread.I for one have been waiting for 3+ years to see someone cold cock him in the NBA when he shows his "will" during garbage time. It is a moment that I will savor when it happens

Can't stand the douche, and I think there is no way he is any sort of star or even top tier players. However, he is going to be a guy willing to do what a lot of players in the NBA don't want to do, and teams need. He'll play big, rebound, push guys around, and be just a strong annoying body who can go in and bang around and give solid minutes. If he stays healthy he'll have a long NBA career even though he is undersized because the only way he will make it in the league is if he does those little things well. I can already see the scenario now, where he goes to some team that lost in the conference finals, and gives them 18 minutes a game, 3 rebounds, 2 points, and they end up winning a championship. We'll have to hear how he and his "will" were the missing piece of the puzzle and how valuable his 18 minutes of heart and hustle were the difference. I just have a feeling this guy is going to make me sick to my stomach for the next 10-14 years.
