Freaking love the game on the PS3, then saw it was on the DS but not the PSP?WTF?
12/14/2008 11:16:35 AM
By the way, already know Firaxis said it was due to a lack of resources, however, call me crazy... wouldn't porting from PS3 to PSP for this game have been easier than designing for the DS?
12/14/2008 11:31:06 AM
I would say you should have made this thread in Entertainment...but there's already been a thread over there on this game for about 7 months. So gg on making an extremely [old] thread. In the wrong section. And then double posting in it.[fail] x 3
12/14/2008 12:45:44 PM
The DS version is OK. Sucks about the graphics though. Made the train ride a little more tolerable for a few weeks.
12/14/2008 3:59:38 PM
Thread was created here because it was more meant to spark conversation about converting games from PS3 to PSP versus PS3 / 360 to DS...The double post is because I couldn't edit the post on my iPhone for some reason. But thanks for showing how you have no life and you're only enjoyment is attempting to insult people on the internet.
12/14/2008 5:26:22 PM
isnt the PSP just a PS2?and the PS3 is completely different than the PS2so it probably is very difficult making the transition
12/14/2008 5:27:16 PM
PSP is pretty much a PS2, which is still more powerful than a DS, I would think. They ported other games from PS3 to PSP, like Super Stardust.I just wouldn't have expected a port from 360 / PS3 to PSP to be harder than DS.Not to mention, I would have thought it to have been cheaper to port PS3 to DS.
12/14/2008 6:11:27 PM
Pointing out your failures is not attempting to insult you. Now, if I were to call you a fucking moron for not knowing the difference between your and you're...that would be insulting.]
12/14/2008 7:44:34 PM
^ Good job for staying on topic, and after being awake 24 hours, I was pretty fucking hyped I got anything out that made sense.Moving along...Maybe the DS has a better 3D graphics chip? I thought the DS was basically a Nintendo 64 in power though.

If this thread really is supposed to be dedicated to talking about the graphics capabilities of various handheld devices and how hard it is to code for them, then why in the fuck is it called "Civilization Revolution"?How's that for being on topic?
12/14/2008 7:50:58 PM
Topic: Civilization RevolutionMeaning for topic: Civilization Revolution wasn't ported to PSP, would have thought PS3 to PSP was easy, discuss differences in control ideas and porting issues between PSP and PS3Example: Stardust HD versus Stardust Portable, was quickly ported from PS3 to PSP but the controls were a failure.Perchance does that break things down to a simple enough level than you can understand the point of this thread?
12/14/2008 7:54:14 PM
Silly me, I prefer that my topic titles actually contain some sort of clue about what you're trying to discuss.Next time I want to ask a question about my wireless router I'm going to create a thread called "spoiled bananas" and dedicate it to pureetofu.]
12/14/2008 7:57:11 PM
As long as the spoiled bananas cause a direct problem with the wireless router, sure thing.--------------------Back on topic, seems things look identical on the DS version though people tend to hate navigating the map

El Nachó: Dude, you are a serious cock throbber. Who the fuck cares? As usual, you could have handled this in a civil way, just pointing to the other thread, but instead you act like a total raging douchebag. We all get that you have no substance in your life, but do you have to project your misery onto the entire population of this site? At least give us a couple of days off a week.
12/15/2008 7:36:15 PM
Wow. Talk about the pot and the extremely black kettle.
12/15/2008 7:47:20 PM
Want to make a thread and see? I actually post things of redeeming value on this site. And, *shock* have friends, both ON and OFF line.

really? really

Not that I mind Noen's comments, but I was all excited that there might have been relevant posts on the topic, especially since he typically has insightful comments.:sigh:

I own this for the 360, and it's awesome. The lack of PSP play may have to do with lack of a real multi-player infrastructure for the PSP. The DS has very solid internet and multi-player capabilities, which is a core element of Civ Revolution's appeal.Same for the PS3 and 360. They are all seen and sold as community capable gaming devices, the PSP really isn't. Very few games for it have or had very good multi-player support.I doubt it was a technical reason for not porting the game, as the PSP is essentially a PS2 (and it's incidentally a really fast process to cross-compile from platform to the other)
12/16/2008 5:22:49 PM
good points noen, though I promise you civ rev multiplayer on the DS kind of gets boring after a while :-/I want to get it for the 360
12/16/2008 5:36:35 PM
I'd imagine so. Doesn't seem like the kind of strategy game that would translate well to the DS (unlike, say, advance wars).
12/16/2008 7:02:17 PM
I thought the PSP can use similar multi-player calls to PSN as the PS3?Though, I also saw that the PS3 uses GameSpy for the multiplayer for CivRev. Also, I wouldn't think multi-player would be the top priority for handhelds, I never think when buying a game, does this have good multi-player compatibility?
12/17/2008 8:35:50 AM
The game is pretty much a multiplayer game.It has single player, but it's really just a way to train and get used to the mechanics so you can go play other people. It's all really conjecture, but that's the only reason I can see why they would have snubbed the PSP and included the DS. Hardware-wise, the PSP is light years more powerful than the DS.
12/17/2008 1:20:51 PM
civ was never about hardware, why should it be now?
12/17/2008 11:04:24 PM
^Civ Rev on the 360 actually is a pretty heavy graphical game, in comparison to past releases. Civ4 could be a pretty heavy graphical load too, if you were running over 1024x768. Lots of textures and lots of models.
12/18/2008 2:30:46 AM
Crede you wouldn't believe how the fights can really slow down my PS3 evenIt has great 3D graphics and with all the "little people" fighting things can move at a crawl.
12/18/2008 5:30:02 AM
right right the games have upgraded for sure, but that was simply to keep with the timesthe real improvements to the game have been the game additions, like culture/religion/leveling up
